[quote="John Very Little"]As mentioned I think Steve Shaw's report is exaggerated as if he's coming over here to just talk to Edmo on Friday then he wouldn't be staying for over another fortnight?
I can understand PC isn't happy with the way things are going at present but the words about Edmo's job not being under threat 'at the moment' imply that it will be shortly if he doesn't improve as paddy71 mentions, but I'd also question how much PC actually understands about football at this level?[/quote

same could be asked of edmo John!

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Think the manager will be given another 4 games then if no improvement may find himself under threat that's the modern game now
Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
He would have to stay for a fortnight to take some games in to see what's going on with the team playing wise, after all, its his spondoolies that are being spent. Simple enough to me.blue nige wrote:John Very Little wrote:As mentioned I think Steve Shaw's report is exaggerated as if he's coming over here to just talk to Edmo on Friday then he wouldn't be staying for over another fortnight?

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Just read Edmo's comments in the paper and he seems to be blaming the players when I think he should be shouldering some, or even most of the responsibility. Don't envy him facing up to the boss on Friday but there's a few simple questions that he needs to answer:
1) What's this obsession with taking Walker off - a proven goalscorer at this level - is it personal or professional?
2) Selecting Van der Broek who looks extremely ordinary at best and was who knows where pre-season.
3) Not selecting E.Newby who looks twice the player Van der is and did well in OUR pre-season.
4) Persevering with the same system game in/game out.
5) Overseeing, in my opinion, the worst footballing side we've seen at Holker st since the 70's - the feelgood factor from the 1st game of the season has gone, as have a good 900 punters.
And here's one Paul can answer:
1)What's happened to the toilet facilities at the ground and what's happening regarding the stadium re-furb?
We've the worst ground by a country mile at this level have you ever took the walk of shame behind the '(un)Popular-side' for a p***? If not, don't, on health and hygiene grounds!

Hilarious. Before they ever owned clubs. The point is, every great club owner came from another industry. The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:Moribund wrote: Which football club owners spent years running football clubs before running football clubs?

And to Mulholland above: the worst team at Holker Street in 70 years? So not the one that was getting tonked 0-6 by Gainsborough at home a month before Edmo came in?
Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Edmo stumbled over the line to win the league last season.
Lessons have not been learnt from the poor defensive mistakes in games like Hyde away.
He brought in another coach who lasted 5 minutes as a manager.
Edmo will survive or go on his results. His team, his strategy his fate.
To be honest I would give him three more games .

Seriously, it is far too early to pass judgement. Like others, I would question some of the tactics and team selection, but I guess everyone would have different opinions on that. Of the six games played so far I get the impression that we have only been outplayed at Grimsby and FG - and the latter with only 10 men. We are not turning possession into goals, could probably have won at Cheltenham and Halifax if we had. Although the defence is criticised for mistakes, I do think our attacking options are limited and one dimensional, with too much reliance on Cook and lack of effective wide men.
I don't think the summer recruitment was a particular success. Whether that was due to lack of funds, poor judgement or the fact (which I suspect) that the preferred targets did not materialise, only PC and DE know.

Can I throw in some of the stuff under under Phil Wilson, if we're going down this road.Moribund wrote:.....

Agree with most of this, Walker is very proven in this league, and you could argue is one of our fitter players, yet seems to be dragged off most games.

The football under Wilson was dire but the squad was great and he just couldn't get the best out of them. We seeing similarities or is the squad just not up to it so far?Shaun wrote:Can I throw in some of the stuff under under Phil Wilson, if we're going down this road.Moribund wrote:.....

I'll take your point on that one Moribund. You don't really have to have the experience of running one.Moribund wrote:Hilarious. Before they ever owned clubs. The point is, every great club owner came from another industry. The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:

Its just some of the comments about having " not to different a squad from Forest Green" and " I won't be surprised if we're in the play-off picture" that worry me

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
If I'm being honest, I didn't really want Edmo here at the start (changed my mind since) I read the Wukkie forum and their complaints about him were pretty much this.....not giving locals a chance.....very odd substitutions......wrong tactics.....poor football.....poor recruiting - ring a bell?
Since then he did the job he was brought in to do which was keep us up. He managed that very well, seeming to get the best out of some of our players that were already here.
He was then given the managerial dream ticket of new owner & more imortantly, cash. He managed to get us promoted, with a lot of help from Fylde because in all honesty they should have walked that league.
Them two spells and acheivements rightly gave him the chance to take us into this league.
The problem I see now is, we sort of accepted (to a degree) the poor football, some very dodgy results and some ordinary players because of the previous season and winning the league last season. He now has a healthy budget for this level BUT he doesnt seem to be getting the best out of players (unlike previously) the football is still poor, potentially our most outsatanding local for some time isn't being given a chance, he doesn't seem to have learned from the strange substitution situation and tactics are still wrong (Wukkie groundhog day) I think he needs to realise that the time has come to play to players strengths, don't hold back at home, realise some of the substituions are wrong, let your exciting players have a run-out. If there's something wrong behind the scenes it needs sorting rapidly.
I got over my initial disappointment because at the end of the day - he was BAFC's manager. I like the bloke and really want him to suceed, he's always very approachable and willing to have a chat. I'd like him to be here years but he HAS to learn from where he's going wrong, and very quickly - starting tomorrow.
What better way to turn the corner than by putting in a decent performance against a very good team like Eastleigh?

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
