One of the Manc branch here just got back. Generally enjoyed the performance - very resilient at times and had a decent amount of possession. Good goals from Cookie went to sleep on their goal. First away win onwards and upwards.

Make that 112 Barrow fans - I was with a Macc friend in the main stand - difficult to keep quiet as the goals went in! My first game this season and my main thought is that the standard is so much better than Conference North. We looked solid, other than the goal, which came at a terrible time, so soon after we had scored. Not always pretty, but effective. When we play it on the ground we looked dangerous - we had some really good spells after the first 15 minutes and at times in the second half. Great throw out from the keeper in the run up to the goal - much better than an aimless hoof. My friend thought we were worthy of a win, just.

No chance Macc had 68% possession. I'd say fairly 50-50, but we looked a lot more dangerous with it.

Decent result IMO - a little shaky in defence but looking more confident going forward. The first half was fairly tame from both sides but Macclesfield never looked to much of a threat.

Start of the second half was one way traffic in Barrow's favour until a well deserved, well worked goal seemed to spark them into action with a swift response. 5-10 minutes of Macclesfield pressure had me worried they had the bit between their teeth and would push on, but the spark disappeared as quickly as it had appeared and other than a dangerously positioned (but ultimately wasted) free kick in injury time they never really looked dangerous again until the final whistle

A good three points, a shit Macclesfield crowd, a better display than Saturday and an alright pie.

Absolutely buzzing we beat them, waited 3 years for revenge.

We played OK, Grimes won the penalty out of nothing really, persisted chasing the ball and was taken out, well done that man, would like to see him start though.

VDB showed glimpses of a decent footballer but still frustrated.
Cowps and Paddy played well but looked shattered towards the end, full time?!

Defence solid enough, G Williams is a class player for us.

Cook man of the match, obviously.

Eastleigh as mentioned by a few have not won since we beat them, they are fast becoming a mid-table side, they suffered the only red card of the night. FGR almost made it 3 defeats in a row but came form behind to earn a draw against a Cheltenham side that is now in 2nd.

Barrow are 14th, 4 points form the play-offs, 7 from the relegation zone.

Next up Kidderminster. They have yet to win this season, however they have 5 points from 12 games, 3 have come from away draws. They have scored the same number of goals as Barrow and have conceded only 3 more.

No way did they have 68% possession (just seen that stat myself and didn't believe it) - 50/50 seems about right, but we did look dangerous with it. Cookie missed at least one sitter in the second half - don't know how it didn't go in. Our defence looked pretty solid - bit worried early on when Denis(?) for Macc seemed to be going past our right back too easily.

Remove Cook's goals and we would only have 5 points.* A lot of teams in the same boat if you remove the top scorer.

EDIT: Quick count but Lincoln would only have 7 points if you removed Rhead's goals.*

*only 12 games in pretty easy to count up, don't ask at 40+

113 - I stood on the terraces. Nothing personal lads - just don't like sitting down to watch football.

Quite a lively game. Pretty even first half, without many chances. We came out strong in the second half though and battered them for the first 10 minutes. Cook had a free header but missed the target, and soon after had another from which the keeper made a great save. The goal came after a good run by Haworth, after which the ball broke to Cook on the edge of the area and he hit a low shot in off the post. The lead lasted just three minutes though, with Macc scoring from a header from a left wing cross. After that they looked dangerous for a while, but we rode the storm and deserved to win in the end. The winning goal was a bit lucky though, as Grimes wasn't really going anywhere when he was upended. Very impressive penalty from Cook.

Good performances from Livesey, Haworth, Cowps, Williams. No-one had a bad game though.
