Edmo led us (Wukkie eh) to Conf North play offs, but that was with a squad of decent players inherited from Tommy Cassidy.

After that, year on year he gradually diluted the quality of the squad with bad signings and things got worse year on year. Granted our budget was non existent and on the face of it he did well to keep us up for so long punching above our weight on such a tiny budget but the style of football was always dire. it was always knocking long balls into the channels hoping to pick up bits and pieces. Tommy Cassidy with the same squad of players employed a much better style of play.

Edmo seemed to have no contacts outside of Carlisle United and we would never give young local talent a try even when they were miles better than some of the tripe he used to get in on loan.

His substitutions were always baffling and left everyone scratching their heads.

In the final season when he actually had a decent budget as we had a windfall from the sale of some land he blew it on a load of terrible loan players, but I accept he had little chance after the billionaire that bankrolled Celtic Nation stole pretty much all of our squad.

He's a decent bloke but don't expect pretty football or your young lads to get a look in, he plays pragmatic percentage hoof it football that was all the rage when he was a player.

Most people at wukkie while appreciating his efforts were glad to see the back of him, and the style of football employed by Gavin Skelton who had largely the same squad was like night and day

Played some good football last season too aparently. Got relatives that are reds and they said Alex Newby who Edmo loaned looked like a propper talented player and at 18 said Barrow would struggle to hold onto him

So You can count, well done,

however you have missed my point in spectacular fashion, I simply wanted to offer an insight into our experience under Edmo as you seem to be having a similar experience and a debate amongst yourselves as to whether he's doing a good job and I thought you might find it useful.

I can honestly say I don't give a hoot what league we are in, (or you for that Matter)a win in the Evo Stik is as satisfying as a win in the Conf North, in fact the last couple of seasons in the Evostik have been infinitely more enjoyable than the constant struggles and dire football in the Conf North.

Disappointing to travel so far to see us lose 5-0, especially so since I don't think we had a shot on target all afternoon.

I don't usually summarise feelings after a match but today was an odd game. The defensive shakiness is still there and scoring three goals on Tuesday soon seemed a distant memory.

Players worked hard and were upset when things went against them but man for man we were simply not as good as Bromley who were incredibly sharp, organised and determined. They were well led by their captain, a local lad who has come through the ranks with them and was very demanding of teammates. He dominated our strikers who had few serious efforts. Our attacking threat was ineffective until Wilson livened things up. Cook probably is ripe for a rest and could make a decent impact coming on mid-second half. I'd like to see Walker and Wilson up front.

At the back George Williams was given a torrid time despite his best efforts and the rest of the back four had their work cut out. Midfield worked hard and showed some promise but were overrun at times. If you saw Chester on Tuesday think how well they broke for their second (?) goal; Bromley were like that going forward for much of the match.

A friend who hasn't seen Barrow in a league game for forty years thought it was an embarrassing performance. He mentioned a donkey; I can see what he meant but have to credit Bromley more.

On the subject of embarrassment we've all seen the Braintree fans on tv shaking the thirty fans at Cheltenham (good effort on a Tuesday night) so was there any need for the little group (led by Cook?) to start emulating them at the end when the rest of the squad were being lectured in the centre circle? Not good for team togetherness. I'm probably only jealous they didn't come to the other end to shake hands with me...

Big test of character on Tuesday.

Good setup, Bromley. Decent ground, good pitch, friendly staff. Hawkshead beers too especially for today!

Why do people with obviously with no brain try and make a shit result seem better, if they mention Wukkie.Either grow up or just stop posting. We were in the same league for a long time not long ago. By the grace of God and all that. It realy is very childish and shows no thought or intelligence. Wukkie. are struggling for money, we have been there, remember, and we are throwing ours down the toilet.

OK the view of one of the merry band who went today.

Firstly Bromley nice place, friendly people. Secondly didn't realise that two of Bromley manager's Mark Goldbergs children were born in Barrow and that Mark himself supported us at Wembley in the 2010 FA Trophy Final. I wonder if we asked him nicely if he might consent to come and join us and bring one or two of his squad with him. Thirdly thanks to Pilks, George Williams and Cooky for having the guts to come over and shake the hands of the supporters at the end. That was much appreciated - one even apologised.

Before we destroy our own team it must be said that Bromley were one of best outfits I've seen in a long while. They are big at the back, mobile in midfield and lightening quick up front. At times it felt like we were playing in the first round of the FA Cup against a side from a league or two above. They were better than us in every position across the entire 90 minutes. I cant think of more than one or two mistaken or mislaid passes all game and they counter-attacked with the speed and precision of a surgeons scalpel. I cant even really get that angry because they whupped us - the better team won.

As has been said they had 6-7 real shots scored five, the first involved a medley of headers, the second a screamer from outside the box; the third a counter attack having caught us too far up field, the fourth from their right winger who virtually samba-ed around Ashton before a great strike into the corner, the fifth a curling shot from outside the box into the top corner. Dixon had little chance with any of them apart from perhaps not leaping like salmon for the first.

The reality is probably that this was a red letter day for Bromley, they are currently on a great run, they play with confidence and everything they did worked for them. They were also playing side that seemed to be perfectly set up today for them to hammer. They must feel like world beaters at the moment.

When a team plays like they did, they expose every weakness in your team, you see the reality of things. And the reality is that whilst we can play possession football, and craft out opportunities that's about it. We are ponderous in front of goal, we attack slowly and not incisively, we have centre backs that are repeatedly done for pace and two fullbacks who have an instinct for moving forward and isolating themselves leaving us vulnerable to attacks down the flanks. We didn't appear to have anybody holding in midfield today in front of the back four. Both Cowperthwaite and ARH wanted to push forward often supported by one or other of the fullbacks. Bromley compressed the space snuffed out the attacks and surged forward continually often running through the defensive line.

Much of the result was down to the fact that we went two down within the first 25 mins and then tried to recover by being more attacking. As a result we just got picked off by a much better team.

To be honest I was far angrier at Halifax at losing a game to an inferior side. We said that these days will happen at this level - though we probably thought that Bromley wouldn't be one of those to deal out the punishment.

Without wishing to chuck more of the brown stuff at the management team, the most embarrassing part of the day - apart from the scoreline - was our inability to change much after the damage commenced. We just seemed to try harder without trying smarter. Everything was formulaic and probably textbook but there was no Plan B, no ingenuity and nothing to stop and make the opposition think. They set themselves up for us and we played into their plan. Five against may have been a little harsh but this was a game that we were always going to lose the moment we stepped on the pitch.

There are worse teams out there than us and I'm sure we'll pick up wins here and there. However the standard we will need to achieve to seriously trouble the play-offs was clearly demonstrated today - but not by us.

You have summed up what the radio were trying to say. Thanks for an excellent an honest report. I was ducking behind the sofa every time they got the ball !!! It sounded like we gave in, again once they scored. And how fast do our so called fast starts evaporate.

After picking up just 5 points from their opening 7 matches, including 3 defeats in their first 4 games, Bromley have been on a fantastic run of form.
They have won 8 of their last 9 games, losing only to Tranmere away 4-0.
They are obviously the divisions form team.
Their manager Mark Goldberg is also the club's chairman.
He lost £40 million pounds when the club he bought Crystal Palace went into liquidation in the late 90's.
By recent results, he is obviously a talented manager.

'Suffolk Blue' has written an excellent summary of the game. I would only say that our attacking full backs are exposed because of our tendency to lose the ball in midfield. As 'Esso Blue' correctly said Bromley just ran through our midfield.

'Blue Nige' makes a very good point about setting up properly when playing away from home; clearly we don't playing two up front contributing to our weakness in midfield.

'Esso Blue' rightly says Dixon wasn't at fault for any of the goals which were all amazing strikes. This view is contrary to the moronic view expressed by 'Leo' who blames Dixon for the first three; be embarrassed when you see the highlights.

'Hadrian' suggests George Williams was given a torrid time; only one goal came from that side due to Symington not tracking back.

'Adam21' & 'Suffolk Blue' rightly acknowledge that a few players had the balls to come over and thank the fans; well done those players.

I repeat my earlier post that Bromley were quality breaking with terrific pace and had strikers that finished with class.

I also agree with another post suggested Cookie needs a rest; he looked knackered and expended too much energy moaning at his team mates.
