Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
This is the fundamental problem with the team, and has been since last season. We need a playmaking general in the middle, and players to be more comfortable on the ball. As you rightly say, nobody at the moment seems to want the ball. If we can all see the blindingly obvious why the hell can't the people running the team?boyliegladbach wrote:Which goes back to the point everyone is on about and that's centre midfield.barrowaberdeen wrote:Edmo needs to stop them just lumping it aimlessly and everyone will be very happy.
When our defence has the ball nobody wants it.
Look at baker last week, wanted the ball all the time, was taking off his centre half and keeper.
Non of our 5 central players seem to want the ball.

Agree, Casson should had kept his discussions with Edmo private imo.walney rock wrote:Dont get me wrong barrows performances have been far from great but for casson to come out publicly and say edmo has a month to save his job is [SwearFilter] wrong! Really hope edmo proves casson wrong, we will be here long after casson has [SwearFilter] off
Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Which is the fundamental reason his position is now under threat.
Why can't his "supporters" see this and that it is self inflicted?
We can argue until the cows come home whether the owner should have "gone public" the fact is the managers position is quite rightly under serious threat and that is no-ones fault but his own. Its got nothing to do with table position or consolidation and everything to do with the dross being served up and the perceived lack of effort/interest of some of the players.
I too like Edmo as a bloke but don't feel he is listening or even being realistic if he truly believes it will all miraculously come right in time.
His signings tactics and explanations are utterly baffling.

I don't think there is much more to be said that hasn't already been covered by everyone and his brother. However I am a little puzzled by the 'why didn't Casson keep this private' argument. Are we to believe that PC rang the EM (and possibly RC) and said ' Look,I'm giving Darren a month to improve or else, pass that on to your readers/listeners'. Surely not.I may be naive and wide of the mark but I strongly suspect that the conversation WAS private and has been leaked by someone to the media with all the follow-up interviews etc that entailed.Personally I'm in tune with all the other old-timers on here who have witnessed and heard far worse from HS over the last 50+ years. A lot of the problems have come from ridiculous expectations of younger fans brought up on the 'Premiership' mentality of instant success

Yet it's our Owner who in his 50s targeted the play offs at the start of the season?SKIPPER wrote: A lot of the problems have come from ridiculous expectations of younger fans brought up on the 'Premiership' mentality of instant success

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Why are we signing youth players that have limited experience unless you count being on loan at non league Giants Buxton and Matlock when our best player from last week sits on the bench ?
This thread is going around in circles - top 8 budget - top 8 expectations - crap football - players takin the [SwearFilter] -weird tactics - bad signings - negative football

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
I think it's unusual for a club owner to read the riot act to his manager in the public domain. The usual way is to give them the dreaded "vote of confidence" and then sack them two weeks later. I don't have a problem with the way he's done it per se, but then I'm not the guy sweating it out in the hot seat. Perhaps he did it this way in order to make it clear to all the dissenting voices that he is "on the case"? Who knows?

Just to squeeze into the circle - if you are talking about the latest signing, we can only sign youth loans, unattached or (I think) emergency loans until January.

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
BARROW AFC boss Darren Edmondson has been challenged to meet a handful of targets as he fights to save his job – with his tactical and motivational skills being put to the test.
Austin Straker drew up the list of targets, following discussions with Paul Casson, and they are:
1. To be higher in the league than the club’s current position – not meaning that Barrow must win the next six games.
2. To raise the level of consistency of performances in matches.
3. To show a high level of tactical awareness to meet different needs and to deal with different opposition, including the alterations needed during games – to be reactive to the needs of a game.
4. To become a more potent force in front of goal (including different attacking aspects).
5. To show that we’ve got a squad that believes in the manager, believes in each other and believes in what the club are aiming to do, and that they are prepared to give their all for the club.

Definitely need some new players then

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
If that's real, it's the most tin pot thing I've ever seen.
Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
