REMARKS FROM THE CHAIRMAN
By Paul Casson, from the Barrow v Grimsby Town programme
It was on a mid-summer Tuesday evening, after an opening-day victory over Dover at Furness Building Society Stadium, that we took the journey to Grimsby. Before an excellent attendance of over 5000, we became fully acquainted with the challenge that would confront us this season.
This evening we welcome them to our home field in the return fixture. We are in the middle of a difficult spell currently and so it will be an excellent opportunity to get our season back on track.
It is no secret that I am not terribly thrilled with some of our performances this season but in football improvement is only 90 minutes away. I will be present in person tonight which, hopefully, will provide a spirited and entertaining game.
The unfortunate events at Atherstone have now resulted in formal convictions and sentences for some of those involved. I hope that now draws a line under that particular incident. I know from talking to some of our fans who were present on the day that it was a traumatic experience for them, and so I hope they, at least, can start to put that behind them now.
Anyway, back to football proper, for those fans who have made the long trip from Grimsby on a Tuesday evening, thanks for attending and please have a safe trip home. Grimsby will bring with them this evening Omar Bogle. He has been somewhat a thorn in our side of late. Hopefully this evening we will deal with the threat he brings. It is an important time for Barrow AFC as we come to terms with the League, its demands and transition to a complete competitive operation.
We have a few steps to take. We will take them together.

Omar Bogle a 'thorn in our side' or a hero hereabouts? That's a conundrum is that.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

That's funny I thought we won the title because Fylde couldn't handle the pressure of those last five games and we took advantage. Strange how people see it differently.
