The old clubs been dormant for a while now, but the company was left running in case any further issues arose.

That's now not the case so we've voluntarily applied to have it struck off.

Why would it be Tidds? I'd guess the two things are entirely unconnected.

When the old company goes then so does BK's last link with the club as BK's present position was only a symbolic one it seemed.
The company running the club now is solely PC's company and nothing to do with BK.

Yep, but the old club has existed just on a technicality for the last 2 years anyway. As you say, BK's role was only a symbolic one and I don't see how the old company being struck off affects that in any way.

I think its more likely to have something to do with the way Edmo's departure was handled. I can't in a million years imagine BK or the previous board handling it in the same way and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the whole sorry episode unsettled BK and made him question whether its something he wanted to be associated with. Of course I'm just speculating though.

Either way, like everyone else I'm sorry to see him step down and hope there isn't anything more serious behind it.

Brian Keen did alot to save the club in fact without him and others the club will have folded.
It's a shame he stepped down but it has to be over a policy issue I.e Edmo getting the boot.
Casson is running the club as he wants its his money

Let's not forget by using Rose tinted spectacles Mr Keen did alot but towards the end Directors were resigning like they were jumping ship from North Korea over policy

Unless you are in the Keen family inner circle I cannot understand you making absolute statements, last time I spoke to Brian circa 4-6 weeks ago he was looking very tired, maybe he just decided enough is enough.

There will have been countless occasions in Barrow AFC’s rollercoaster history when fans, players and managers looked to the heavens in search of solace. Well, now their prayers have been answered, for a man of the cloth is right on hand to provide that comfort. Few people will be aware, but Pastor David Opie was appointed the club’s chaplain at the beginning of last season. The Millom Baptist Church minister is among more than 300 sports chaplains in the UK, providing spiritual and pastoral care to professional and amateur sport. Originally from North London, the 63-year-old is a Tottenham Hotspur fan. But after becoming part of the fabric of the Holker Street club, he is a converted AFC nut who can be found at every home match.

Mr Opie, who is also chaplain at Sellafield, said: “It’s an involving role. You are there to provide pastoral support, welfare support, to be a listening ear to anyone that’s involved in the club and to the supporters. At Barrow, it’s very much in its early, evolving days at the moment – I believe I am the first ever one. I’m usually down there every match, building bridges and friendships with people before and after the match and I’ve just got to see how the role evolves. Sport Chaplaincy UK would say the various different chaplains are there to be pastorally proactive, and less evangelist and reactive. So first and foremost, we are there in a pastoral role and wherever you are, whatever is going on, we’re there to be that extra listening ear.”

Mr Opie, who is also a part-time chaplain to the prison service, believes his boyhood team Spurs will do well to finish fifth or sixth in the Premier League this season. But under the new cash-rich ownership of Paul Casson, he has higher hopes for Barrow. Mr Opie said: “I know there’s only one automatic qualifying post, but I think they could do it. They’ll certainly be there challenging – of that there is no question – and at least be in the play-off mix, which can be a bit of a lottery. There is a sense of optimism in the club; things are moving in the right direction, and the long-term goal, as Mr Casson has stated, is to be back in the Football League. And if Fleetwood and Morecambe can do it, it’s not an easy call, but it’s possible.”
