Braintree (H) Match Thread
Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
Enjoyed that. Love it when the crowd get fired up. 4 or 5 contenders for MoM but was pleased ARH got it- totally different player under Cox.
Hope we can keep hold of Cook. 20 goals.

Dixon called for that back passNigel Bamford wrote:No, it didn't (other than a howler in the 1st half). Did that not come across on the radio?
Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
Well I witnessed one of the scrappiest goals that Jase will ever score, we are usually on the receiving end of plenty and an absolute belter by Cookie. ARH just about edged Danny Livesey for the MoM award both were great tonight as was Cookie. Braintree were a gnarly edged bunch of spoilers who milked the officials dry. Not pretty but we dealt with all they could throw at us and another good win and another blank in the goals against column. Credit to the 20+ Braintree supporters who made the long trek up north on a cold Tuesday night.

Think it said on radio 54 goals in 84 appearances for cookie
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it
Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
This is convincing. Cox's plans are being carried out effectively and reproducibly. Tonight, once more, each player contributed sheer endeavour to a united team performance. Players know their roles, take responsibility, and are being blended into a team with promotion potential.
This complete team showing means I'll limit individual mentions. Danny Livesey, to my eye, was near on faultless in another undemonstratively excellent masterclass of defending. Alex Ray Harvey, finishing the season strongly, had a stormer, rattling into numerous precisely timed challenges, and sharp with the ball at feet. His all-action ankle biting and quick switches seem to complement Andy Parry's upright solidity well. After months of continually seeing the same frustrating deficiencies, now we have a capable midfield. It is competitive, tight, and protects the defence well.
Sign the contract, Cookie! And get in discussions with Tranmere regarding Ritchie Sutton's availability asap. Experienced, dependable, been very impressed so far.

Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
Solid team performance and apart from the Grand error which should have resulted in an equaliser I thought we were pretty solid at the back in the face of quite a bit of Braintree pressure for parts of the second half.I am liking what I see at the moment and credit to the manager and his staff for making us a different proposition than we were under Edmo.A lot of that is down to his signings who seem to fit in very well.
Haworth is showing a lot better form and ARH gave a season's best performance.Cooky is just Cooky,he is a nightmare for defenders and wins most of the high balls. He is also good with the ball at his feet and holding off players.Took his goal brilliantly.Hope we can hang on to him.
Just mentioning three players doesn't mean the rest didn't perform.Plaudits all round.
A long way to travel from Essex for a night match and even worse when you go home empty handed.
Roll on Saturday and Macclesfield.

Thank you and well written Optimism. This was indeed another well organised team performance in which every player wearing a Barrow shirt gave 100%. MoM coul have gone to several but nobody will begrudge its going to Alex-Ray Harvey. Mistakes were made, it happens in football, but over all nobody let us down tonight or has done for many matches now. There was a clear desire to win and a positive team spirit which was sadly lacking not many moons ago.
It hasn't happened for a while but one doesn't mind losing when one's team is playing with this sort of attitude. Well done Barrow.

So you couldn't go tonight then moan about the attendance then admit season is deadstilltheman wrote:great result. could not make tonight. cook on score sheet again must be near 20 now. one small gripe scrape 1000 when winning every week. cassons free entry for a game. why not show case side now in improving weather while winning every week. may attend regular next season if impressed. season dead not going to attract punters this season.

Let the good times roll, Terrific run of form that hopefully more Furness folk will come out and support.

Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
The effort the players put in was fantastic (after a long away journey),o.k. it`s not pretty at times but teams must fear playing us you can tell by the way the team celebrated cooks goal how they are bonding!,only down side the attendance i honestly don1t know why Paul casson`s bothering it was a fine night no distractions playing a team in the play offs, team unbeaten, yet still people don`t turn up, yet when we`re up there next season they will all be there!
cook`s goal was worth £14 nearly broke the net!

Surprised the manager didn't mention what a long journey they had...mickmike wilson wrote:http://www.braintreeandwithamtimes.co.u ... at_Barrow/

The club just expect to open the gates and for people to turn up - which they do of course but you need to be working in the community and publicising the game and putting promotions on - it nearing the end of the season but had we not dropped points at home to Tranmere / welling / kiddie and won at Halifax and alty there would have been 2,500 there last night -blue nige wrote:The effort the players put in was fantastic (after a long away journey),o.k. it`s not pretty at times but teams must fear playing us you can tell by the way the team celebrated cooks goal how they are bonding!,only down side the attendance i honestly don1t know why Paul casson`s bothering it was a fine night no distractions playing a team in the play offs, team unbeaten, yet still people don`t turn up, yet when we`re up there next season they will all be there!

People want to see a winning side but they also want to see a side that has a chance of winning something

Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
That's the sort of performance we've been looking for, fight, effort and a decent amount of ability too.
Everyone has pretty much summed it up, Livesey, ARH, Cookie phenomenal, Walker, Sutton and the rest all worthy of small mentions. Howarth another who looks a different player. Don't think Grand was too bad tbh, he's become a bit of a whipping boy for some reason.
Special mention to Parry, doesn't get a lot of plaudits due to the quiet way he goes about his business, but we look a much better team with him in the side, supports the defence when needed and sits to allow other players to attack.
Really enjoyed last night which is the first time I've said that after a home game in quite a while!
