What about a few years ago when we didn't have money and were drowning in debt... we weren't generating enough of our own money and were lumping cash we didn't have at it, didn't see it as a problem then? Or is it only a problem when you're winning? The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:Ste Story wrote:

I was thinking more Grimsby, Wrexham, Tranmere, Lincoln.
Its ok though, weve got money now so its not a bad thing anymore like it was when Fleetwood threw money about to go up the leagues.

We still arent generating enough of our money. The money thats getting put in now is going out in weekly wages. Nothings happening off it to help us so PC doesnt just have to Sign cheques.
Yes the debts have gone which we all know is outstanding and will help the club no end. Paying out silly wages out of the owners pocket historically goes wrong a lot of the time.
Everyone forgotten about the old " money can't buy you love" craic?
Its fine though, we are winning so its not a problem until it becomes one after 3/4 failed promotion attempts

If PC continues to pump his cash in its not a problem but he did promise to leave us with a sustainable club should he leave and I would guess we're quite a way from that. If he's true to his word we've nothing to worry about but if he jumps ship early we'll nosedive straight back down. That's the risk we took when we sold out and we have to live with that decision. I'm still optimistic it'll work out well.Ste Story wrote:Aii can't wait to battle against those sides who generate their own money without lumping cash at it, like Forest Green, Eastleigh, Fylde and Gateshead? The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:

It amazes the same few droning on & on about our lack of any physical redevelopment in place already, they clearly lack a clear understanding of how things work, these things take an age to come to fruition especially when land purchases and several different businesses have a claim on the borders of our grounds footprint & in the Council to deal with.
Then they use Fleetwood as a template but hate the way they bought the league, double standards.
Revamping the on/off structures will bear fruit in the longer term as will ground improvements & a highe average attendance, it's takes time & good practice to help become on sustainable.

They use Fleetwood as an example not a template . An example of when Barrow fans hated the idea of clubs buying a league to all suddenly accept it now our own club is attemping to do the same. Thats where the double standards appear.mickmike wilson wrote:Ste Story wrote:

Things do take time however I think two years is a good amount of time to learn how to stock a club shop , run a website, and have some idea of how to generate money without it being transfered from the owners bank accounts.

Re: Andy Cook
In all fairness I think a lot of the vitriol directed to Fleetwood was of their emergence from absolutely nowhere and immediate billy big [SwearFilter] attitude. Plenty of clubs have "bought" the league and not been hated or derided by Barrow fans as such. It's more a nod to the fact that 3 years before their fans were giving it big un (Wrexham in the barrow arms style) they didn't have a clue about Fleetwood and were probably stood on the terraces at Bloomfield Road. In that instance, money did buy them love. We all supported Barrow before the money came in and will continue to do so if/when it dries up, therein lies the difference... Hope that helps put the matter to bed for you and Steeley, seen as you continuously bring it up xThe Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote: An example of when Barrow fans hated the idea of clubs buying a league to all suddenly accept it now our own club is attemping to do the same.

They were bankrolled and Barrow fans didn't like it/ were jealous.
Now we are bankrolled and its fine to be bankrolled and its not a problem.

Football fans are inherently hypocritical (including me), i.e. a bad tackle against is generally a strong challenge for, etc.The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:Ste Story wrote:

Its as simple as that.
As an Everton fan it is the same, we have a go at Chelsea for buying the league, Man City buying the league. The day a billionaire comes into our club we are talking about....guess what
That is just the way the football supporting life is, no need to have a go at football fans for being football fans.
In other words, why can't we all just get on and roll around in our money like Scrooge McDuck.
Also, I hope Cook decides to stay.

Did you want us to say no to Casson then and leave us in the unibond leagues without a pot to [SwearFilter] in?The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:Ste Story wrote:

No. I just expected us to be careful and not throw money around and For us to have something in place after two years which would help us become self sufficient.
