More like the club has really... Advertised a price for Student tickets then decided to put the prices up because someone had the audacity to request a way of purchasing a season ticket for that group. Absolutely awful way to treat fans new and old IMO.

Wait, so they introduced a new "Student rate" on a single-match only basis, then when someone asked if there was a season ticket available, they basically removed that "student rate" and put it back to the same as a concession?

You say student rates haven't been offered before... this is true, but students have always been concessions. It just never had the "student" tag. I promise you that for 5 years I asked for "One student, please" at the turnstiles and was handed a ticket. I even discussed this with both Keen's and they were very well aware that students were given this rate

All you've done here is say "Students We're going to give you a discount! Oh wait no we aren't any more" and put the price back to exactly what it was. The fact it was never called a "Student rate" is entirely irrelevant.

If this is her idea of strategy, I hope nobody lets her near anything important. What a crap bit of marketing.

I'm not sure I'm following all this, but looking at the pricing on the official site, it's clear that the early bird season tickets have been priced at 23 games for the cost of 18. So with this in mind, the student season ticket should cost £8 X 18 = £144.

Is that right?

Exactly, but instead it's been offered at £220, and the £8 has been upped to £11 instead...

I presumed that's what it would be, and spoke to a few students I know to see if they'd be interested in buying a student season ticket at that.

However, it's been decided that instead, they're going to change the match day student price back to £11, and the student season ticket will be priced at the same as concession (220 stand / 240 ground).

Don't really follow the logic here at all. Seems like Ste (and many others) being punished for asking if a season ticket offer is available for students by getting a significant hike in the cost of watching football, just days after advertising the pricing for the season. Bizarre.

What annoys me is the short term look the club has. In the past we had no choice but to live day to day, hand mouth, unable to plan ahead due to financial restraints.That presumedly isn't the case now so should be the perfect time to look long term. Get in the primary and secondary schools, free tickets, £1 a ticket, anything to get these kids into Barrow AFC, help them through college and uni with good deals (£5 a ticket). In time these become full paying adults bringing their own kids on the same deals they had and the cycle begins. Perfect time to do this, just wish the club would become less short sighted

Wow! Talk about giving with one hand and taking with the other! thought the eight pounds was good value and probably would of attracted quite a few into committing to a season ticket if that option was available. But to suddenly hike it eleven quid????

Hopefully, I replied to Emma asking about the possibility of just leaving it as it is and not bothering with the Season ticket if the only way one could be introduced would be to put both prices up... The price of a season ticket under the changed plan would actually be more than the cost of attending all games just paying on the day based on the £8 that's there now.

It's a shame though... a lot of people like to buy season tickets so they can proudly say they're a season ticket holder of their local club and also so if the club got any good ties, they can have preferred access to advanced ticket sales as season ticket holders.

How can we have tens of thousands of pounds thrown at a kit launch 300 miles away from where the club is based with people who are only there for the free champagne?, for us to then go and charge students more to get in each week.

Surely that is totally against everything the club is supposed to be heading towards. It seems like a very cut throat corporate decision. Either way its a very very poor one.

Lets look at "Our Vision" , seen as Casson and Straker like bullet points/monthly targets to assess performance.

"The primary mission of Barrow AFC is to be an important pillar of the greater Furness community."
"The club should provide value in all its operations, be transparent in its dealings and be a source of inspiration to all, but especially the community’s youth."

How do we work towards this vision? Lets charge students (past ,present and future fans) more money to get in each week , therefore putting them off attending.

Everything is so half arsed. The clubs being run like an absent father who only sends cards to his kids when prompted. There is zero initiative and there is a complete lack of free thinking and new ideas.

It simply has to change.



Side note - Can season ticket holders not be offered discount benefits like with the Trust has partnerships with local companies which offers a range of discounts. 10% off Frankie and Bennys for the fans and we give the company 4 free tickets every now and again. Everyones a winner

Not just that but once you have bought a season ticket/half season ticket you have made a commitment and an instant investment to the club, surely that's what it's all about at the end of the day bringing in as many people as possible as early as possible!

The club official site has student matchday prices at £8 ground and £10 main stand. This would set early bird season tickets at £144 and £180 going on the 23 games for price of 18 logic. There's no Main Stand under 11 or 11-17 season ticket listed, so perhaps an oversight there? Basically the 5 ticket categories listed for match day should be reflected in the types of season ticket available. Need the club to provide clarification on these things.
