An Evening with Jeff Winter
Re: An Evening with Jeff Winter
A highly enjoyable evening, was a bit sceptical of what Jeff Winter had in store for us to be honest but needn't of worried as he was brilliant. His witty quips, memories and tales from his time in football were very entertaining. As was former Bluebird Mark Boyd adding his light hearted but very fond take on his time with Barrow, a guy that truly loves the club. It was all excellently compered by James Phillips who certainly knows how to get the best out of his speakers. Good food, good beer in a stunning location only bettered by the company in the room.

Re: An Evening with Jeff Winter
I thought the first year at Abbey House was special, last year at the golf club was very enjoyable but last night (for the entertainment alone) certainly beat the previous two events we've held!
Wasn't too sure what to expect from Jeff Winter but he really was a very good speaker who mixed stories with a lot of very funny memories, more like a stand up comedian. He was dear but definitely worth it. He then offered to run our auction which he did superbly and managed to sell everything at very good prices (framed, signed shirt from 2004 - £120!!!!!!)
James Phillips was again very good at linking the evening and Mark Boyd had some "interesting" stories from his time here. I think I want to be a goalkeeper
Food was good, company was great & the entertainment was top drawer, and as Mark said, all set with them views as a backdrop to the top table.
Well done to Frazer who put in a lot of work with the event.....last seen leaving the golf club with a big smile on his kipper clutching the profits!

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Lovely summers evening... A swifty in the bay horse before a nice walk up to barrow golf club and the stunning backdrop to greet you over the north end of Walney...lots of words have been said lots of hard work has been put in and the whole night turned out to be top drawer. The radio Cumbria sports team sailed the ship through the night and Jeff winter took command with his after dinner speaking and auction... I really cannot remember laughing that much for ages... As always the catering and hospitality from the golf club excellent

Excellent night out in all respects. My thanks to all involved in organising it all. I know, from the experience of running similar bashes in the past, just how much time and effort it takes. Well done!

Not as well as we would've liked but those who missed it missed out on a great evening, I never heard one negative comment from anyone who attended.K-Man wrote:Was the night well attended?
The bonus was we thought we might lose out cash-wise but because of Jeff Winters excellent patter on the auction bidding, it looks like we've turned that around into a profit.
