If anything he will of been on the same as jase was if not slightly more.
As for beeley yes morecambe are handing out pay cuts but that's the reason why he has left them (turned down a new deal) again I'd imagine he will of been on at least £1kpw if not more at morecambe.
It may well be incentive based as daz was saying but there is no way on this earth that we haven't got a top 5 wage budget in the league this season
Beeley picked us because of the security of a two-year deal, and if we get promoted his wages will be more than what he was on.
Likewise Turnbull, who I forgot - it's the security of a two-year deal that is a big thing, that's what we're doing and that's what Gateshead are doing.
I don't doubt that there's plenty of incentives in the deals we're handing out, but people are way off the mark if they think we're handing out wages anything like the big three spenders in this league.

Re: Interesting comments from Paul Casson
Why do people imagine lowerleague footballers are on big money. According to this article
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... along.html
the average salary in League 2 in the 2014-15 season was £40350 (approx £776 / week). Obviously as its an average some will be on more and others on less, and some clubs will have bigger playing budgets than others.

Without actually knowing for certain I wouldn't be at all surprised if the average Conference wage was higher than that. Several players have gone on record as saying they've dropped to Conference level as the wages offered were more than they could get in the FL.Ilford Mouse wrote:Why do people imagine lowerleague footballers are on big money. I also highly doubt that Jason Walker was our highest paid player last season as has been suggested further up this thread.
I'm delighted with the signings we've made so far, but I'm also under absolutely no illusions as to why they've signed. Players can still be earning good money and be committed to the cause, and I'm confident Cox knows what he's doing and won't accept any bad apples therefore I think we're in for a good season. But let's not embarrass ourselves by pretending it was anything other than the money that got them here in the first place.

I think the thing to consider too, is that players at non league level often don't get paid a full 52 weeks a year, so looking at average salaries may not be too helpful. Also add in the aforementioned incentives such as pay bonuses/cup bonuses etc. I'd also imagine that daily mail article, if accurate, sees the average brought down substantially by including players in the first team squad who are youth team players stepping up/reserves including in first team squad registrations.
For example, our wage bill last season would probably see a lower average due to including the Newbys/Carroll/the young goalkeeper who were probably not on a great deal.

I don't think the difference will be massive, we don't know what Edmo was paying the likes of mellor,Pilks,Ashton grimes and grand.
It looks like Cox will be having a smaller squad, didn't we have about 23 signed on at start of last season.
Can't see Jordan Williams, Elliot newby and Bennett being on big wages.
I think cox will be a bit wiser with the owners money than Edmo was.

Re: Interesting comments from Paul Casson
To be fair to Turnbull, he said it was 'financially, for my family' - that could just mean we've offered him two years rather than one on roughly the same money as he was on at Macc. Mind, let's not kid ourselves that any of these lot would have signed for us during the austerity years.Van Der Nipper wrote:Beeley has signed a one year deal and Turnbull has said on twitter he's only come here for the money.Moribund wrote:

Wasnt it said we had a wage budget of an average league 2 team last year?Ilford Mouse wrote:Why do people imagine lowerleague footballers are on big money. According to this article

Sorry, thought Beeley's was with the option of an extra year on his part - Turnbull though didn't put it exactly like that on Twitter, it sounded more like we made him an offer that made financial sense.Van Der Nipper wrote:Beeley has signed a one year deal and Turnbull has said on twitter he's only come here for the money.Moribund wrote:

We will have offered Cook well over a grand, but there's no way in hell any of these lot are being paid that.

Always a source of amusement for me that people know what footballers earn yet probably couldn't even guess at their other halfs' income

Hannah was on roughly half that at Chester, and we've given Beeley pretty much the same money as he was on last season (Morecambe handing out pay cuts this summer), so that leaves Hughes and Anderton - you reckon they're on a £1k or more? I don't.

Otis khan joined yeovil on 1 year deal
Re: Interesting comments from Paul Casson
It can not be such a big doubt when his high wage was one of the reasons he was realeased (according to NWEMKieran wrote:I also highly doubt that Jason Walker was our highest paid player last season as has been suggested further up this thread.
A guess would be Cook and possibly Livsey/Grand as other top earners? Cook certainly sounded like he was aiming to be the top earner given the comments in that article, saying they were heading in different directions over money.NWEM article wrote:But Cox does not see Walker as being one of his front-line strikers next season and felt it was financially impossible to come to terms with a man who has been one of the club’s highest earners.
When Casson says in that article that we have no £3,000 players I'm pretty sure we don't but I'll take a guess at where that statement comes from. Anyone recall Andy Wood on BBC RC last season saying during the Eastliegh away game that one of their players was on more than the entire Boreham Wood team? Can't recall who they were referring to, I don't think they directly said who it was.
There are certainly some really stupid wages being paid at some clubs at this level and there have been comments that some clubs in our division are paying way over the odds (and more than League 2) but how common it is it is difficult to tell. Because we say we are not paying £3000 doesn't mean we don't have some players on 4 figures and it doesn't say they are getting less than 4. We allegedly had a player on £900 in Conference North.
Teams like Fleetwood and then Crawley, now FGR and Eastleigh have constantly raised the bar and it might get more expensive if we hang around too long. There are some clubs with big wads of cash still climbing the non-league pyramid. Overall not going mad with the wage bill appears to be bringing in the right kind of player, well once the season gets under way we'll find out.
Re: Interesting comments from Paul Casson
I think Paul Cox will pay what is reasonable and fair.
The days of footballers being loyal and clubs doing the same are gone.
As long as the player performs and it's to budget what does it matter
Paul Cox has shown how willing he is to get rid of players he does not rate.
People like Colin Cowperthwaite being at clubs are gone.
