Total waste of a day.
If any of them on display represents barrow next season in a league game I will donate £30 to charity.

Looking through some of the names listed in the evening mail article Scott Fenwick might be a good signing, similarly to Hannah he scored bagloads of goals at a lower level.

Re: Furness Select Game
Mallon and Mulholland were certainly 2 fine players but, at that time, Morton were one of the top sides in Scottish football (when the Scottish League was infinitely better than it is now!) with a large number of good Scandinavian players whereas now they are minnows.SKIPPER wrote:If Stefan MacLuskey is half as good as the last pair we signed from Morton he'll do for me. 50 Years ago we played them in a pre-season friendly at HS. Whether by design or accident we followed up by signing two of their players, the Jimmys' Mallon and Mulholland two major forces in the team that went on to win promotion to Div 3 (Lge 1 today) that season.
Re: Furness Select Game
I doubt very much that Mr Cox will make a decision on anyone based on a low-key game like this. Several of the players named on paper may be worth a second look. Oliver Norburn is the player who scored the infamous goal for Guiseley against Braintree last season continuing 'unsportingly' after the ball had been put out for an 'injured' player then returned to them. He does also have an interesting past dating TV actress Chelsea Healey when he was at Bristol Rovers and publicly dumping her because of her partying lifestyle (how un-footballer !). His off-the field problems may have contributed to his packing up the full-time game at the time and joining Guiseley.

Don't know why anybody bothers with 'friendlies'. Total waste of time - apart from judging the fitness levels of the players...
