It can not be such a big doubt when his high wage was one of the reasons he was realeased (according to NWEM ;) )
I never disputed he was on a good wage, what I was and still am disputing is the claim that he was THE highest earner last season.

I didn't think you were disputing his high wage. He was clearly up there though and we didn't get rid of anyone else for the same reason or did we? Grand? We tried to keep Cook with more money but he clearly did not agree. We are never get told the actual figures and the players won't say, so we don't know. Like you I'm not sure it would have been Walker either and suspect the biggest was probably out of the others I mentioned.

It sounds like Cox has been trying to get the wages more on an even keel across the squad, and I recall something along those lines being mentioned a while ago. We probably lost Cook because he didn't really want that coupled with an offer on the table from a big name club.

"Heres your basic Mr Hannah.....£700 a week.....score a goal and i give you an extra £150"

Im sure we are offering big money but maybe just in the correct way to the correct type of player we want at the club.

After the debacle of England i think the country regards to footballers wages is waking up a bit. More foreign players at top level pushes home nation players down league after league and you end up where you end up, simple.

As for £750 p/w for Walker being top wage im sure I recall Mutch on £800, i may be wrong like.

Either way its a good statement to release by the owner, he shows he is willing to get involved yet leave the manager to his own thing.
One or two players were on 900.00 per game last season and the season before...that's what I got told from a reliable source.

Announcement to be made soon, for a new ground across the road from Holker Street, to be shared with the 'Egg Chasers'

From a fairly reliable source I would hope, Anthony Wilson was on an awful lot as were one or two others, one was Jason. The money is better spread out now. However, Cooky was offered a fortune by our standards and knocked it back.

Kind of part of his job then surely? Not knocking your comment btw.

I think Cox is simply a better money manager than Edmo et al previously.

I have no idea what is offered to our new recruits but as i said in a previous post it will probably involve bonus scheme.

Whatever the case i think Cox is doing a great bit of business compared to the likes of York.

They signed a new player this week ex Hartlepool striker.
