Re: Prospective Signings
We do what we have to do to get out of this league high wages whatever, if at the end we get promoted I personally don't care it's Paul Casson's money he's not daft coxy and him will have everything mapped out so come on let's make the most of it because you never know what's round the corner!
Re: Prospective Signings

Disagree, we can't just throw money at it, have to put money into the club not into players pockets. Its fine when its PCs cash but he won't be around forever.blue nige wrote:We do what we have to do to get out of this league high wages whatever, if at the end we get promoted I personally don't care it's Paul Casson's money he's not daft coxy and him will have everything mapped out so come on let's make the most of it because you never know what's round the corner!
Funny how peoples opinions have changed about bankrolled clubs since our takeover.

Agree Steely.
People come and people go.
Vaughan came and when we got into trouble where was PC?The club is being built on sand. What structure is there in place if the Texan pulls out.
Is this a ego thing or are we going to be left with something.Rememeber when we got to Wembley and beat Leek, we played the mighty Colne Dynamoes who were bankrolled, where are they now.
Another thing that annoys me is the statue of Emlyn Hughes what did he do for Barrow apart from being born here.

There are plenty of views as to what is or isn't being done right with the club, but seriously........your talking about the best part of two decades ago!!!Pedro wrote:People come and people go.Vaughan came and when we got into trouble where was PC?
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Prospective Signings
Totally disagree. Cassons here ,cassons got money that he's willing to spend.casson wouldn't be here if he didn't want to be.God knows where we'd be now if it wasn't for him.I don't get people on here always doom and gloom, Just enjoy it.this is the best ever chance of us getting back in the football league. I've never seen league football at holker St in my lifetime, and I for one would love it if it eventually happens #bluebirdsSteeley wrote:Disagree, we can't just throw money at it, have to put money into the club not into players pockets. And Vaughan's family weren't involved with running the club.spirit of 1990 wrote:There are plenty of views as to what is or isn't being done right with the club, but seriously........your talking about the best part of two decades ago!!!Pedro wrote:People come and people go.Vaughan came and when we got into trouble where was PC?
Bit of an insult to Paul Casson being mentioned in the same breath as Steven Vaughan.

I don't think anyone is suggesting PC will turn out to be anything like him. BUT no one had a problem when sv was pumping in cash.
Point being that it would be better spending cash across the club rather than chucking it at matt rheads and best case ending up in league 2 with the same ground and no infrastructure behind the scenes.

Re: Prospective Signings
But I think things are being done behind the scenes. I went down to the club a couple of weeks ago and it was a hive of activity. Mrs Casson was there painting the offices and hard at work.Steeley wrote:I don't think it is.saltcellar wrote:

PC has said this is a long term project. When SV was chairman A lot of people wondered why a boxing promoter from Liverpool with no connection with the town wanted to be involved - my dad for one always said he was a crook.
Have we missed out on this major signing then with people assuming it was Parkin or was that just someone having a guess.

Yeah I get what you are saying. Painting and volunteer work which goes on is brilliant and fair play to all involved, but that's not going to bring in money, fans etc. However you can already see how much more professional the club is since Emma has come in.Bingo wrote:But I think things are being done behind the scenes. Just worrying some folk on here are in the mindset of 'throw everything we have at getting into league 2 next season'.

Re: Prospective Signings
The work Emma is doing is going to bring money into the club, but the kind of money needed to be competitive in this league can't just be generated by sponsorship it needs that investment. It needs a better infustructure, which comes from better facilities - if we spend money on players and that excites the crowd and support grows ( and it will ) they will pay for themselves. If the players we sign get us to the third round of the FA Cup or better again they will pay for themselves and if we throw a load of money at some 16 year old kid with potential and he turns out to be the next Jamie vardy it pays for itselfSteeley wrote:Yeah I get what you are saying. I too get concerned about these big wages being paid out - what if PC was to walk away ? But I do trust the guy. I never trusted Vaughan he walked out on us then came back again - the warning signs were there stories of bills not being paid and loans being made to be club by his companies- it was an ego trip for him- I get the impression from PC then he and his family really want to create something here for years to come.

Re: Prospective Signings
He hasn't a clue what goes on, as valid as some of his points are he'll ALWAYS find a reason to have a dig at the big stories without actually stopping to think about the hundreds of things that go into running a club like this....from a door needing a lock replacing to organising events to floodlights being replaced.....saltcellar wrote:And how do you know what is going on behind the scene?Steeley wrote: I don't think it is.

But then again, the club only look at throwing stupid money at players don't they? and that is apparently all the officials, owner, employee's, volunteers & manager do.
And to mention PC in the same post as Vaughan as he did is very poor form.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
