Can't see any digs at Casson in there. However, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the players Cox signed are on the way out soon - if they don't pull their finger out - judging from his commments regarding being COMPETITIVE in THIS league. I like Cox's style, he says it as it is!
Didn't get to the Tranmere game but from what I saw on Saturday, we still lack creativity and flair...
Early days but still think we'll struggle to reach the Play-Offs.

Doesn't really disprove his point though does it? Plenty of teams DIDN'T get to the playoffs despite vastly outspending Braintree, so to suggest we should be getting to the play offs purely because we've apparently spent a few bob is foolish.Adam29 wrote:Yes and braintree spent millions to get to the play offs last season didnt they?mall wrote:

Sorry to disagree ,but you can see your player sticking his leg out to force contact with the keeper, this is a ploy many cheating forwards do. Also go onto your forum and read discussion points, many say it wasn't a pen. The ref was a joke.Pablosammy wrote:Jo am back wrote:On the referee,i dont think ive seen a more biased, cheating performace. Brabin had obviously been in his ear pre match, even there fans are saying never a penalty, outside the box. The ref couldnt wait to give it,anyone got his name ?
Sorry to burst your bubble.
Also, the amount of late tackles and little kicks he let go from Barrow players, including the one that left Connor Jennings needing treatment early in the game, was comical.
I'm not saying he was a good ref, but he was terrible for both teams. However, he got the penalty spot on.

He's got a point about mindset. When Cook signed for Tranmere a few of our then squad members, one of whom was in the team last night, congratulated him on the move as though he'd signed for Real Madrid rather than a team we were looking to compete against this season.Bingo wrote:I am glad with what Cox has had to say.

Aii very good point Dave. For as long as moving from Barrow to other teams in our league is seen as a big move or step forward, we'll always suffer with a small team mentality against some.Lancaster Branch wrote:He's got a point about mindset. I thought the midfield would be Turnbull and Hughes with 2 wingers?
It seems the "form" of ARH has put a spanner in the works with Hughes being moved out to the wing.
Any views on the apparent imbalance?

Hughes will probably be on the right for the foreseeable future - our only tactic is to lump every long kick out wide for him to try and knock back inside. Can't win them headers from centre midfield.

To be fair he won most of them, just no one was there running on to it. We needed a Jason Walker from the bench last nightMoribund wrote:DaveP wrote:I thought the midfield would be Turnbull and Hughes with 2 wingers?

Be careful with what you say about ARH, I said something similar about him after aldershot game and got called a tosspot.DaveP wrote:I thought the midfield would be Turnbull and Hughes with 2 wingers?

But I totally agree with you

Looking at the video, everyone is man-marking and our no. 18 seems to have Cook (pause at 3 secs and he is watching Cook). Then as the ball comes over, Cook moves towards it and another Tranmere player runs into our 18 to stop him following. It looks like a clever rehearsed move to me (tho 18 might have got closer in the first place).boyliegladbach wrote:What did diarra do wrong. I thought last night when I read this that it wasn't him marking cook and this video confirms that. I'm guessing radio said he was to blameK_BFC wrote:Oh dear
Tranmere 1-0 Barrow, Cook scores with Diarra allegedly taking the blame.

Re: Tranmere v Barrow
Cox needs to take some of the blame last night for the tactic of lumping out to hughes or Harrison all game.
Mcnulty had one of the easiest games he will have this season and I feel for hannah he might end up struggling here if we keep these tactics up got absolutely no service last night.
Williams was good in tracking back to cover anderton being out of position but offered very little up front he did however have the chance to put Hannah in but selfishly didn't.
Lots of work to do.

Still in it right up to their penalty but couldn't see where any goal was going to come from. DIdn't work their keeper at all. Cook's goal was clever as their players created the space for his free header and it was on a plate for him.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.
