Exactly, score 1 goal then wait for Dixon to screw up around the 85 mark and then its 1 - 1JimmyCrabstick wrote:We're getting very predictable.

Dixon at fault again surprise surprise! How many more times do i have to say it? 4 points dropped in a week, we'd be 4th if we had held on both times. Shite.

No chance, it'll be the same cliché's rolled out. That was as bad a game I've seen at Holker St. Think i'll save my money against York.Thing is, i can't even work up an anger, total apathy.

1,041 I believe.
Re: Barrow v Boreham Wood match thread
You could see the nervousness at the back just appear with 5 minutes left. They stopped talking to each other and they stepped in and said thanks very much. Another poor goal.
At the other end, Harrison continues to impress, Ross Hannah needs more game time and no idea why he isn't giving Haworth a chance.

What about Williams and Diarra in build up? not saying Dixons kick never led to the goal but there was a few basic mistakes from other players in the run up to it.Newbarnsblue wrote:Dixon at fault again surprise surprise! Dixon may have made the initial mistake but what about the defenders who were standing around like statues when the corner came over and didn't react or challenge for the ball or is that Dixon's fault as well?Newbarnsblue wrote:Dixon at fault again surprise surprise! Yeah, including 26 away fans.Steelworks End wrote:1,041 I believe.
I think the poor entertainment value of the football has led to a drop in the crowds as it was a decent day today.
Re: Barrow v Boreham Wood match thread
Another really poor game. Never looked like scoring and it was only a matter of time before the defense gave away another stupid goal. Only Harrison and ARH even looked interested in playing.

Get used to it, this is how its gunna be all season unless Cox gets some midfield play makers from somewhere. I can see why the attendances are dropping off.
Oh how we are missing Cook, why Hannah isn't getting a game baffles me. Not a fan of Bennett wont score near enough goals and cant last a game, blowing out of his arse after 60 mins.

Awful game of football did we even force their keeper to make a save?
As for their goal Dixon and defence at fault!
We wont get them flocking in for negative football.

Re: Barrow v Boreham Wood match thread
I was preparing my match report 5 mins from the end. Bottom line: not good enough for play offs playing in this fashion.
For the second successive game, home advantage was spurned.
Cox's style has many laudable qualities: strong, committed, disciplined, players appear to know their roles (defensively, up until the last, we were impressively tight). But with this rigidity comes restraint. Again we enter the closing stages ripe for a disappointment. How many times did we test their keeper second half? Did he make a save?
Currently the principal tactic is long into the
final 3rd hoping for Williams magic (he rarely gets Anderton overlapping now) or something to opportunistically fall.
Harrison, slender, tall, athletic, impressive, used his body shapes well, won plenty aerially and had another good game. It was a shame he was too often rolling out left because we had the much more static Hughes wide right. His use in this position puzzles me. It's symptomatic of the sturdiness that both emboldens Cox's style and yet holds it back. Why is Hughes still on the field in the closing stages? Why not Meikle or Howarth (much under used so far) to stretch and kill off with a 2nd? In fact, one of those should've started. The ease with which Bennett burst down that side in the first half and Harrison got clear for the penalty hinted at a vulnerability to free running. But it wasn't properly tested. Hughes is relatively immobile. He is not a winger. His flick ons v Aldershot in the season opener were effective but Harrison's plenty capable enough in the air. We need pace out wide. We're overburdening Williams. We're becoming predictable.
These past two games we've shown scant sophistication in the final area. There's not enough mobile support for Williams and Harrison. This must improve, or we'll undersell ourselves and gates will struggle.
The equaliser was disgusting. A throw in deep right, and we completely and unforgivably switch off, free cross, free header, another 2 points tossed away. And, unlike last week, thoroughly deserved this time.
Are we content to be a team no one likes to play against, sturdy, destined to finish 10th, in front of gates of a flat (in several senses) 1,000 - or are we going to show more attacking ambition at home? Two proper wingers please.

Would have liked to see Haworth come on for Hughes second half after we went one up. he would have given us much needed pace when we needed an outlet down the right and given their defence something to think about. Hughes was blowing last 20 minutes.

Re: Barrow v Boreham Wood match thread
Their goal was a demonstration of how not to defend absolutely pathetic! Another game where we just seem content to do just enough, if Cox thinks that this squad has the ability to get to the playoffs he's deluding himself.
Time after time when one of the forwards had the ball there was little or no support, then we have a tendency to back off and let teams come at them this is OK if we had a strong back four but missing a right back and a decent centre half ( sorry but for all his efforts diarra just not good enough )
No wonder the crowds are down the football is so slow and laboured.
