As I remember it a streaker from the home end provided the only highlight of a crap game, with the overheated supporter wrastled to the cold, damp December grass by three stewards. It was a rather unedifying spectacle to set before the nation, and on a personal note, served to put me off the leftover chipolata sausage and walnuts I had in my pocket for half time.

Wasn't the Darlington game not televised in the end because the tinpot broadcasters looked at the weather forecast and decided there was a high likelihood of postponement? Seem to recall there was one game advertised to be broadcast that didn't happen but the game did.

OUR APPEARANCES ON THE BOX

The visit of the BT Sport cameras to the Furness Building Society Stadium brings back memories of other TV appearances since we have been a non-League club.

1989: The Road to Wembley.
Once upon a time, on Football Focus, there was a Road to Wembley feature which involved the BBC starting off in the FA Cup Preliminary Qualifying Round and following the winners through to the eventual Final. We found ourselves in the limelight in the Second Qualifying Round as we were visited by Alnwick Town of the Northern League. Good pieces done in the run up to the game and glorious sunshine helped the image of the town and the ground, and the 3-1 win set up more coverage for the visit of Whitley Bay. Unfortunately for us, Bay were one of the best teams in the north-east at the time, and after a cracking 2-2 draw here, we lost 3-1 at Hillhead. Bay, inspired by Kevin Todd, went on to reach the Third Round, beating Preston North End along the way.

1991; A Toe in the Water: Kettering Town 2 Barrow 0.
We were the subject of coverage again in April 1991, when one of the fledgling satellite companies, Sportscast, covered live our Vauxhall Conference game at Rockingham Road against Kettering Town. The Cross Bar had coverage of a low-key game which we lost 2-0.

2006; Match of the Day Extended Highlights: Barrow 2 Bristol Rovers 3.
The Match of the Day cameras found their way to Holker Street for our First Round FA Cup meeting with Bristol Rovers of League Two. In gale-force winds and driving rain, we almost pulled off a spectacular come-back with goals in the last half-hour from Nick Rogan and Tom Pope pulling us back to only lose 3-2. The TV cameras caught the off-the-ball incident involving defender James Cotterill breaking Sean Rigg's cheek-bone which ended Cotterill's Barrow career and brought a prison sentence.

2008; Blue Square North Play-Off Final: Barrow 1 Stalybridge Celtic 0.
For the first time since 1991, we found ourselves live on satellite TV - this time Setanta - as we faced Stalybridge Celtic in the Blue Square North play-off Final at the Pirelli Stadium, Burton. On a warm evening, we triumphed 1-0 thanks to Matt Henney's goal and the fans were magnificent. Sitting in the stand that night I remember the attempts to interview both benches as the game progressed.

2008; Back in the Big Time: Barrow 3 Oxford United 0.
Our first game back at the top level of non-League football in nine years brought the Setanta cameras to Holker Street for the opening action of the Blue Square Premier season on a balmy August Friday-night. Just shy of 3000 fans turned up to watch Barrow blow away their ten man-visitors Oxford United with three second-half goals from Mark Boyd, a Steve McNulty penalty and Paul Brown.

2008; Matt Does It Again: Barrow 2 Brentford 1.
The Setanta cameras were back again on a Friday night that November as we took on League Two side Brentford in the FA Cup Second Round. Conditions were truly appalling and after a David Brown penalty had given us the lead, the ten-man visitors equalised and looked set to earn a Replay. But Matt Henney stepped up to send a drenched crowd wild, clinching our first and, to date, only win over Football League opposition since leaving the League in 1972, earning a Third Round tie at Premiership side Middlesbrough.

2009; A Dark Night: Burton Albion 2 Barrow 1.
After the highs of the Middlesbrough trip, Barrow found themselves back on Setanta for a visit back to the Pirelli Stadium, this time to play a Burton Albion side who were on their way to becoming League champions. We struggled on the night and a late goal from Jason Walker was no more than a consolation.

2009; Dancing in Dorset: Weymouth 0 Barrow 3.
This game was televised as a relegation battle; the problem was that because of other games the match took place on Sunday tea-time which made it a nightmare for any travelling Barrow fans. Weymouth had plummeted from mid-table as result of serious financial problems and their young side posed few serious threats as we scored three goals with reply - a Mark Boyd effort and two from Paul Jones.

2010; Wembley Glory: Barrow 2 Stevenage Borough 1 - after extra time.
The FA Trophy Final was covered live on terrestrial TV for the first time as part of a package on ITV 4. So the Barrow fans unable to make the trip to Wembley were able to suffer the agony as Adam Drury put the favourites ahead early in the first half, before the late headed equaliser from substitute Lee McEvilly. Then the spectacular winner from Jason Walker deep into injury time started party time.

2011; North-East Gloom: Darlington 3 Barrow 1.
This game was played on January 3 at teatime as we struggled at the foot of the table. We quickly fell behind and then had Darren Sheridan sent-off. But we didn't buckle and battled hard and only went down 3-1 with our consolation goal from loanee Louis Almond.

2011; Spectacular: Barrow 1 Altrincham 0.
In another game rightly called a relegation battle in front of the cameras, on an early March Tuesday-night, after an ordinary first-half, the game was decided by a single moment of magic within a minute of the second-half starting with Paul Rutherford firing in the winner from just outside the penalty area for three valuable points.

And finally (for now)
2012; A Bleak Night; Barrow 0 Hereford United 2.
This game took place on a Friday night at the start of December, just three nights after a Joe Jackson goal late in stoppage time had earned us a point at AFC Telford United. We were really struggling at the time. With less than a thousand fans in the ground, there was little or no atmosphere, with even the history of the rivalry between the teams not bringing any passion. We lost 2-0, not helped by the fact that goalkeeper Danny Hurst had to be taken off in the first half owing to injury. Hopefully we can relive some of the happy memories as the BT Sport era - for us - gets underway.

Premier sports pulled the plug and televised a different game in the last minute as concerns over whether the game would be on or not due to the weather

We were going to be THE last team to play but someone else (can't remember who) altered their KO time to match ours. I can't remember it being televised, although I do remember the streaker....surely if you're going to streak - do it in August!

You are lucky then Kieron cos it was one of the worst performances I have seen. We were terrible.

Has anyone else noticed a theme running through the summaries of the tv games? There are a lot of 10 man opposition games. It's almost as if it was obligatory for the away teams to reduce their numbers, with us sometimes reciprocating. Wasn't Lee McEvilly sent off in that Weymouth gsme?

Actaully yeah Winsford game wasnt televised but Granada TV did show highlights iirc.

Hereford game was rank. Think it was on premier sports or something.
