Signings
It's all gone quiet on the signings front...I'm probably just being impatient....reckon we'll have anyone new by the weekend?

Re: Signings
Five or six! Good vote of confidence there for the squad. I wanted a Rolls Royce for my 21st but I didn’t get one. ‘Let’s make history’ the banner said, we’ve got about 13 days to try and support that notion physically and financially – place your bets please and spin that wheel...

Re: Signings
Only ones that will sign will be loan signings, if signings are made which players should be out of the starting line-up, Cox goes on about teams having 25/30 players to pick from but no team can start with more than eleven, Our strongest starting team is a match for any side in the league, he can`t really moan when he won`t even give players a chance if we don`t make the play-offs it won`t be down to lack of players.

Re: Signings
That statement isn't true. We are at the very least two central midfielders and a winger away from matching the best 11 in the league, luckily because we bypass midfield it doesn't matter too much
Re: Signings
Beginning to think we have some form of self-imposed transfer embargo. Since the season started we have signed three players who have started just one match between them (given Cockerline is injured of course) and six players on loan (three of whom have returned to parent clubs). On the flip side we have lost three players to injury and sent one out on loan.Don't want to sound negative and I respect most of what Casson and Cox are doing but it appears to me they would (in private of course) be happy with finishing in the top half as they expected before the season started.
Re: Signings
Yes you do sound negative. He's already outlined and agreed with Casson where we need to strengthen yet you talk of self imposed embargos and being happy to settle for mid table? He needs to bring in players that are going to give us that extra quality to push on strongly. If the players don't come in it won't be for want of trying.SKIPPER wrote:Beginning to think we have some form of self-imposed transfer embargo. Re: Signings
I think our strongest eleven from pre Christmas was a match for any side in the league but even with just two or three changes the whole dynamic of the side looks different. We are short of players that suit our system and who can come straight into the side and influence things.behind the goals wrote:Only ones that will sign will be loan signings, if signings are made which players should be out of the starting line-up, Cox goes on about teams having 25/30 players to pick from but no team can start with more than eleven, Our strongest starting team is a match for any side in the league, he can`t really moan when he won`t even give players a chance if we don`t make the play-offs it won`t be down to lack of players.

Re: Signings
Its a funny one the "window"
Can go either way on whos available at what cost i guess?
I imagine there are a lot of players available but could be asking for too much, towards the deadline they could panic and drop demands. I think Cox is very very good at setting targets in his signings, basic wage + bonuses for example.
No doubt agents are calling up every club offering the kind of players (that once were good enough) like Brodie, Vieria (Magno was it from Fleetwood), Constable etc etc
the kind of players who will do anything for 2k a week!!!
So at the end of it you could have either the dregs who cant get a deal.....or......the good players bargaining for a better one. Either way sensible management and patience is essential IMO. In the final week club A could sign 4 players and then 4 of their squad become available?
One imagines Cox and Casson are turning people down and with the scouting qualities we have I think panic can wait a week at least.

Re: Signings
I think we could do with strengthening the midfield before the visit of Lincoln, the midfield seem to be getting overrun very easily since Boxing day.
