Anderton is probably our best asset - ie. he's up there with our best players, and would probably command a decent fee if under contract. An absolute must to try and keep, for me, and there won't be a better left-back at this level next season.

Possibly my nomination for player of the year, though Livesey might shade it.

I've been more impressed with Williams's last few games than anything I've seen from him since about September, but summer is probably a good time to get him sold.
Hannah didn't fit, Hughes has something but rarely shows it - they're probably the only others I'd get rid of, maybe Moussa if we could get a fee from L2 for him.

Rawlins - Probably only Cox has seen him play. Notice Market Drayton lost 0-9 at Sheffield a couple of weeks ago, Can only guess his part in that.
Poss ible targets ; Stuart Tomlinson as competition for Dixon or replacement if he doesnt make full recovery. Apparently impressed in his short spell at Alty.
Ryan Astles Chester centre back and former Northwich teammate of Williams and Bennet. Well thought of and definitely out of contract.
Ryan Yates has struggled to adapt to the higher level of League 1, Recently signed a new contract at Forest but they may have a re-think on a loan in FL.
Finally a long shot which may not be everyones taste, Matt Rhead may well not feature in the Cowleys plans in the FL if they are aiming for a different style

There are 7 players I'd straight away put down as must keep. Those are (in no particular order) Dixon, Beeley, Livesey, Anderton, Turnbull, Williams, Harrison

After that id like to keep Bennett, Newby, Diarra, Hughes and maybe give Panayiotou a bit more of a chance ?, also Parry

Get rid of: Don't go for any of the loanees (Wright etc) , ARH , Coughlin, Effiong

And yeah why not keep that Cockerline and give him a chance
Not really bothered about Meikle or Hannah

We'd be mad to get rid of Harvey, who has been the most improved of anyone that was here last season. I also reckon we'd be equally mad to pass up any chance of signing Akil Wright, who is just going to get better and better, and can play a few different roles.

Panayiotou started yesterday for Salford.

Think that was only his second start,a fact mentioned by their fans on their forum,and he was subbed early in the second-half (injured ?). I wasn't criticsing him,because believe it or not I think there is a footballer in there. However to go through the same as he has this season would be pointless to him and us. The lad needs to be somewhere he is getting a regular game.

Various posters have mentioned players that actually are not ours such as Rowe and Wright, there are some who will go on to bigger things and I believe they are William's and Anderton, I believe Hannah unfortunately will go as he does not fit cox's style of play, one player is a must to stay and that is Danny livesey he's been immense, I would keep ( if they want to stay of course ) all of them except Diarra he's to unpredictable. Turnbull has fitness problems, meikle, not consistent enough when given the chance, Hughes has been a real disappointment only used on the wing to head on goal kicks for the cox style, finally 2 musts are two generals in mid field if he had been able to sign this type of player in January we would probably been in the play offs at least.

Here's a radical idea. Keep the lot of them and just add a second decent keeper, a couple of decent additional defenders, one midfield enforcer/play-maker, one proven forward and possibly a wide player.

Increase the squad by 5-6 and bobs your uncle. Many would have said that this would have been good enough for a top five this season so why not next?

Seriously - we wont build a promotion winning side by significantly changing what we already have. As many have pointed out previously the size of the squad has been more limiting than its quality.

I pretty much agree with most of that;-
I'd add Effiong to the keep - he's raw - but could be a monster....
Stuart Tomlinson... the only worry I have there is that he had to give up the full time game because of injury - If he's fit again great - but there may be an insurance payout the repay if he goes back full time.
Yates - get him bought if possible - or try for a season long loan.
Parry being fit again will be like a new signing as he was one of our best players at the end of the previous season.
Elliot Newby - I agree with keeping him - he's shown in a struggling Alty team that he can score goals - and he's dying to play for Barrow. I'd play him instead of Hughes in the last 2 games.
Ryan Astles - yes - if he is out of contract the Williams and Bennett link may help get him.

one of the other issues might be keeping hold of some of the players namely Diarra, Williams and Bennett. Bennett has come on a lot since Harrison got injured and next season the combination could be even better than this season - it wouldn't surprise me if Lincoln came in for him amongst others.
