Worrying read this thread. Puts a lot of doubt into people's heads, I doubt Casson is funding us as much as Cox wants and I doubt Cox wants to be here as a result as he will want to compete for promotion.worrying times I'm afraid

I bet our budget Is in the top 5 - imagine what some of our previous managers could do with a budget like that.

If hartlepool asked Casson for permission then the buyout fee would have been discussed at that point. Before they even spoke to Cox. Otherwise why would they waste their time arranging a meeting, probably drafting a contract etc. They would have known the price casson wanted and would have been comfortable with that.

So that tells me, Cox didn't want to go. Either because he wanted to stay at barrow or because the money wasn't good enough.

We let our best defender in Danny Livsey go.I would have to thought if we were going to push for promotion we would have kept him.
Maybe letting Paul Cox talk to clubs is another way for Casson to recoup some cash.
Think Cox reaction will reflect what Casson did or not do in the January window.

Does anyone know what the parachute payment is the first season after a team drops out of League 2 is that Hartlepool will get?
I know its a fair bit but won't come anywhere near what the likes of Tranmere and Forest Green spent, just interested?

On the point about Livesey, he was on a good wage and wanted a 2 year contract despite being 32, not a surprise we let him go really.
Shows more ambition in letting him go as there are better players than him available and he'll not get better at his age - dropping a league shows the direction he's going.

I don't think Casson wanted to go up this season as it was too soon and would leave so much to do off the field with the ground improvements that are required for League 2 standard and this is why he never spent more cash in January which probably upset Cox.
Have no issue with Cox speaking to Hartlepool to see what they're offering (anyone would do the same) but they must've known already he had 2 years left on his contract and would've had to pay a fair amount of compensation to us?

That's What I'm getting at, yet everyone on here seems to be questionning his loyalty.

If hartlepool were willing to pay 2 years of his contract out right then they knew how much money he would be on.
