Floodlights Update

That's precisely what council planning departments are having to do - approve what's necessary then take another fee when change is required. They have to show that 'income' covers their costs so any easy chance to generate more revenue is taken.

Unless the council refused the 500 LUX requirement, maybe due to residents complaints, & 350 LUX is all they're allowing !!!!

If the neighbors had complained, the complaints would be there for all to see on the council web page in the attachments.
And there isn't any.

In answer to above questions/queries.

The club applied for 500 Lux (which is what is needed for up to Championship level) but the funding group put a cap on 250 Lux which is the current ground level and what is needed for NL football. The club argued that we were aiming higher than that level of lighting and we managed to get it upped to 350 Lux.

The cabling and electrical works installed can take 550 Lux, the masts and arrays are capable of being upgraded in the future by simply adding additional fittings/bulbs etc.

As far as I know there were no complaints from local residents.

Thanks Spirit. How does that get us around the League's minimum requirement of 500 lux, though? When we get promoted this year will we have to go back to Planning for an increase?

I guess so Nigel. Reading between the lines it looks as though we've done the most important part which was getting the funding and planning permission for the new ones and the agreement with the council to dismantle the old ones.

There's a board meeting on Friday (tomorrow) so I'll make sure I ask these questions then.

Surprise surprise - wonder what's the excuse this time. That's another 3 weeks delay !!!!
What happened to the assurance given that they'd be definitely up and running for the 1st home game.
Yes I know someone's gonna respond with "what's the panic - we've still got the old ones", but it just seems like delay after delay after broken promise. When/if they eventually go up, when will the old ones be safely dismantled - after the seasons finished ???

3 months between seasons should have been plenty of time to erect new floodlights, providing planning/funding applications & sorting contractors had been completed prior to this.
If they're up & working for the Maidenhead game, it'll be as good as 4 months.

Salford have managed to completely rebuild their ground in only 7 months.

Have heard Pappa Cass has come up with a new type of flood light to be installed.
There are going to several rows of exercise bikes facing the pitch and the dynamoes fitted to the bikes will power the flood lights.These exclusive corporate bikes are only for the under 40s
It will also confuse the opposition as they will think its our subs warming up and panic.

The truth is all managers at all clubs want more money to spend and all chairman want to spend less

I'm happy to wait for the floodlights and gradual ground improvements

As fans Barrow fans and Barrow People are quite negative doom and gloom merchants - just enjoy the ride most of us will be dead in 50 years anyway
