Fifth Game Review
A fantastic result at Dover, on the radio it sounded like we are getting back to the purple patch we went through last season.
Though we are 4 games unbeaten I can't help but feel slightly worried. How at this stage of the season can we only have 15 players (including a GK on the bench)? I have read that Coxy wants a squad of 22 and we have 21 signed, but in that we have an extra goalkeeper, Andy Parry who doesn't seem to be close to playing, plus Makoma and Cockerline who both seemed to be signed as young development players. That leaves only 17 first team players, including injured Harrison and Fitzpatrick, leaving the 15.
How under this scenario can the club say they want to improve on last season? I've disagreed with a number of posts on here recently, but I have to admit that a former member of this forum has been spot on with some of the recent posts. The club need to come out and be honest about the money they are spending, we are nowhere near Tranmere, Eastleigh, Dagenham, plus many more in our league. I for one could cope with a gradual building project but I wish Casson would be realistic and upfront about what is happening.

Yet more negativity.

If so, you might wonder whose spending has been the more effective so far - Dagenham & Redbridge are five places above us, Eastleigh two, while - no matter how far above us in the table I look - I just can't seem to find Tranmere.

Re: Fifth Game Review
A good point raised. Pre season was a shambles. Very little activity yet again. No real push to get more people through the gates, a lack of both quality players being signed and squad depth. 13 players a week before the season started.thurgott22 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2017 8:01 pm A fantastic result at Dover, on the radio it sounded like we are getting back to the purple patch we went through last season.

Theres a trend happening at the moment of things being said that indicate theres no need to worry about things and that everythings all sorted.
Players were set to leave but its fine because football league contracts run out in July so players will be replaced like for like.
Floodlights will be up mid June ready for pre season friendlies/ the Halifax game / the armageddon.
The owner saying that he wants to knock to cross bar end down to redevelop whilst seemingly forgetting he told the fans there would be a new stand up every season from the start of last season onwards with a "lid on the holker end"
I wouldnt waste your time talking sensible to some of the people on here. Most ignore whats real and just blindly spout "Casson saved us".
Whether people are going to start accepting the reality or not . The fact remains that promises have been broken and the club has no plan. Its a ship without a crew/direction and no one truely knows how fans ambitions are going to be achieved.
Its all quiet and has been for a while now.

Gonna suggest this one again but can the Trust enter into some regular constructive meetings with the owner? Seems the logical way of representing the views of supporters. The Trust along with a strong and organised membership may have an influence or at least expect some honest communications.

There was a meeting pre season, Ian gives regular feedback, listen it`s not ideal but It`s not our club any more so you have 2 options, do what a former member of this forum has done and not go any more or just accept what we have now ,do you honestly believe even if we had another meeting anything will change? because we have had radio.newspaper interviews and yes a question and answer via the trust, it is what it is the choice is yours!PRR wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2017 10:18 pm Gonna suggest this one again but can the Trust enter into some regular constructive meetings with the owner? Re: Fifth Game Review
That attitude is shocking. The choice shouldn't be like it or lump it - and far to many on here seem to believe that. We should be engaging fans, giving real key performance indicates for all matters - on the field, shop, sponsorship, bar etc. And then let fans judge the club on the progress it's set itself targets for.blue nige wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2017 10:36 pmThere was a meeting pre season, Ian gives regular feedback, listen it`s not ideal but It`s not our club any more so you have 2 options, do what a former member of this forum has done and not go any more or just accept what we have now ,do you honestly believe even if we had another meeting anything will change? because we have had radio.newspaper interviews and yes a question and answer via the trust, it is what it is the choice is yours!PRR wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2017 10:18 pm Gonna suggest this one again but can the Trust enter into some regular constructive meetings with the owner? I think it's a real funny start, should have 4 more points but it is too early - about 6/7 games early to judge where we are. I think the goal should be to be in contention for the "new" play off places come march April - keep everyone's interest.
I like the look of the new squad but I agree we are short numbers wise (I think 22 is small), but if Harrison and yussuf can get on the park we will cause many a team a problem.
And on the 7th day god created football

Re: Fifth Game Review
Completely agree on both those points. I'm really looking forward to see what happens when those 2 are played together.
Re: Fifth Game Review
i'd actually like to see a ramping up of the trusts activities which would be a third option. if you want to check out how tranmeres trust are working towards purchasing shares.blue nige wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2017 10:36 pmThere was a meeting pre season, Ian gives regular feedback, listen it`s not ideal but It`s not our club any more so you have 2 options, do what a former member of this forum has done and not go any more or just accept what we have now ,do you honestly believe even if we had another meeting anything will change? because we have had radio.newspaper interviews and yes a question and answer via the trust, it is what it is the choice is yours!PRR wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2017 10:18 pm Gonna suggest this one again but can the Trust enter into some regular constructive meetings with the owner? they run the excellent fan zone on matchday, sell their own merchandise outside ground along with raffles lotteries events etc.
to be fair though the business acumen they have on their trusts board puts most clubs boards to shame.

If you got your facts right people might take some notice of your post.thurgott22 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2017 8:01 pm A fantastic result at Dover, on the radio it sounded like we are getting back to the purple patch we went through last season.

Cockerline has played in 3 of the 5 games so far and has looked ok when he has played but lets ignore that shall we?
In one of the games we never had a full quota of outfield players as subs but the rest of the time we've been ok and the subs that have come on have been of an equal standard to those who they were replacing and we have players still to return from injury/suspension. If we're short of players I'm sure Paul Cox will be able to loan someone.
A review after 5 games is pointless IMO especially when you don't even bother to read the reports of who's and how they played and it's so early in the season.

What harm could it do?
Maybe if the club had engaged with the Trust we wouldn't have to suffer the new arbitrary bullshit rules in the Crossbar on match days?
