Where do we go from here?

I think some alarm bells should be ringing after that shambles tonight.

We are 7 games in, only won one game and we have played some really poor teams. We have failed to beat Solihull, Halifax, Fylde, Maidenhead - non are heavyweights of this league. The results against Dover and Woking were good but that aside I think we have been shocking so far this season.

We went on a 20-odd game unbeaten run last year and from that squad only 2 started tonight. You cannot tell me that Livesey and Beeley would not improve this side - Danny was quality and if a two year deal is what it would have took then we should have give it to him - the bloke won every award at the end of season dinner, he was club captain and imo was the best centre back I have seen in a barrow shirt except that Nigerian bloke (Efe Sodje??). Him, Diarra, Beeley and Jones would be head and shoulders better than the back 4/5 we have at the moment. I think we will score goals and I like the look of Yussuf, Gomis and the Keeper but them aside which player(s) have we brought in this summer has improved the squad from last season? I think the recruitment has been poor, I think the team tonight was poor and as expected results have been poor.

We haven't replaced Williams and the beginning of this season highlights what a miss he has been, he had magic feet and could conjure up something out of nothing, a wonder goal - and when he couldn't do that he was direct and willing to run at defenders - always putting them on the back foot. Those who said Bauress reminded them of Williams need their head shaking - the lad was about 3 leagues out of his depth tonight.

On top of that, our owner couldn't play happy families with a fantastic manager - all this about 7th not being good enough - I bet after the start we have had he'd bite your hand off for 7th - that would be a play off place under this seasons rules - it has been a shit show all pre-season and worst once the season has began. If 7th wasn't good enough and he didn't like the football he should have told Hartlepool they can have him and we could have had a new manager in early doors to shape his squad and put some hard yards in during pre-season, as it was we get this "revelation" during the middle of August that actually Coxy you weren't quite good enough but it is too late now - personally I think that it was something to do with the fact Casson hadn't done anything for a while, hadn't had his name in the paper so he fancied doing this. I appreciate all he has done but the bloke hasn't got an ounce of footy knowledge in that well groomed head of his - and their is even less in juniors.

There have only been three positives come out of the club this summer 1). the shirts were out and on sale early - good, 2). The social media presence has been decent - whoever does that needs a pat on the back, and 3). As per, the away support tonight was fantastic - I had people over for the game who are Newcastle and Sunderland fans and they were well impressed with the away support and how we well and truly out-sang Fylde on their patch.

Not sure where we go from here.

Completely agree with your point about Livesey. One of the best - if not the best - central defender in the league and a player at the age not to be courted by league teams. Should have shoved the boat out to keep him even if it was unrealistic to think we could keep Anderton, Bennett and Williams when offers from the league came in. Some of the money banked from those sales should have been used to give Livesey a contract he couldn't refuse.

I thought we offered him a one year deal and he wanted a two year deal? Or do did someone make that up?
