As stated already, it would be a high profile appointment and it's one that is highly thought of by us Barrovians. He will most likely have a decent contact book and hopefully we might be a bit more attack minded. It's a gamble but it's worth the risk. I legit think this appointment would take some of the heat off Casson since Coxs resignation.
It would obviously be a gamble but a reasonable one I think. He will certainly have plenty of contacts considering the number of clubs he's played for and was very popular at most of them.

I think Grant Holt could be a good appointment.
I think he could still play at this level, would maybe inspire the players we have and must have some good contacts. Maybe he could be our modern day Vic Halom. Who got players to come to Barrow and play well below, the level they should have been playing at. One example would be Frank Gamble IMO the best player i have seen play for us.
I know the money has changed football now, but think Grant may be able to bring in the couple of really good experienced players we need.
I know many will say he has no experience, but if he has the passion that is all i ask.

He can only bring them players in if he's allowed the finances to do so.......

Could be a very smart appointment by the owner, would definitely deflect away recent events at the club. The fans would be fully engaged. Holt in.

Correct but if the owner did appoint Grant, i am sure he would be given a little bit of money.

The other thing to think about from the owners point of view. If he appoints Grant Holt ( experience or not ), it will creat a lot of publicity. Sky sport news will be all over it like a rash and any publicity is good.
In the short term i think it would lift our players and increase people at the turnstiles.
For me if he wants the job, i hope he gets it.
In the short term it will be a huge lift for the club and who knows, it might even work.

Maybe worth a gamble. I would hope holty would not demand a kings ransom. He's well set. It perhaps feels he can help a club who helped him. Carlisle his home club had kicked him out and his career war made at holker street not brunton park.
He has the empathy with the support anf given our current situation won't do any worse.
Welcome grant if you're up for a battle?

The fact of the matter is that Paul Cox is not the manager any more so raking over that repeatedly will not change it either. Who is there who is a proven manager at this level that would be a realistic option? I am absolutely on board with taking a speculative punt on Holt. Bayles/Sheridan worked out quite well, this could too. Add to that the fact that sometimes these proven managers dont always work out well. Steve Burr has had mostly successful spells about but there are a few clubs who would say his tenure was a failure. Get Holt in, I think it would add a few more on the attendances too.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

As pointed out to me by Steeley last night

When Holt was asked it was more of a " Yeah Id like to have a go at that" as if Barrow was a day out at Chill Factore.
Would he really have the contacts at this level ? Would he be able to work with what he has here? Because, like every other candidate, he certainly wont have the funds available to strengthen.

I can see Holt no higher than an Assistant Manager. Would Barrow finish 6th or above as demanded by the owner in what would be his first ever management role?. Im not sure.

Lowtower wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2017 1:40 pm What happened to the junior sides that played in the local junior leagues ?

The age ranges start at under 8s now (i think) so we could potentially have 7 differing age ranges. Thats quite a lot of fans we could attract to the games on the back of it.
They club has the performance centre now from U11 to U18. I think the players get a pass to come to home games. They play for teams across the area so them coming from their team could bring their mates etc etc so that's a way of getting a lot of local kids in. The community often give out tickets to local schools as well, which should help get the younger fans in too.

The current team isn't going to finish 6th or above whoever is manager!
