Time to reflect over the last few days!
Is the squad good enough when fit 15 are! Need about 3 more decent players.
We need a captain /leader.
Manager it's pretty clear to us now the new team need stability and as much as my heart says holty my head says someone like Brabin but knowing Paul Casson he'll probably go for holty so he can be the big name and put himself (Paul Casson )back in the headlines.
I hope we sort this soon because once you get down the bottom of the league everybody players /fans become uptight and no one wants the the ball etc. for fear of making a mistake.
I hope I'm wrong but the timing of all this is absolutely pathetic and whoever is at fault cox/casson that have left us in a terrible situation.

Moore is the cheap option so if he's appointed that will certainly indicate that money is tight because he's done nothing in the last 2 games to suggest he can produce any improvement in the current group and has done nothing tactically to impress anybody.

Pure speculation on the manager leaving issue but don't let that stop you adding two and two and getting five. As for the quality players going it has been explained countless times on here how it is very difficult to keep them from joining a league club, when do you think you will recognise reality.
Speculation ? Barrow missed out on many players over pre season and had to rush a squad together in 2 weeks. Take the Joss Labadie incident recently that came out. Casson saying he didn't want a player with a record affecting the image of the club. Paul Cox directly saying that he wanted to add four players to the squad, Casson saying shortly before that no new players would enter the club. He did so without discussing it with the manager first. Appointing a head of football in order to get decent players in, then saying there will be no new players, again without the managers knowledge.

What did I say about quality players going? or have you just thrown that in there? Im fairly certain I didn't say anything about that in this thread.

The reality at the moment is that Barrow have started poorly and have the same points tally after 7 games as they did when Edmo struggled against better sides in this league , they are 2 points of the relegation zone with one win from 7, the best manager in recently memory has left because he feels he can't do his job anymore, the club has no chief executive because even he has left. The next manager now has to finish 6th or higher in the league with the players he has.

Thats the reality as it stands.

From what I have been hearing about Cox he's not exactly an angel in it all anyway. He's done a great job of making it all look like Cassons the bad guy. The Casson mob are far from perfect but they aren't completely at fault for this whole situation. Cox seemingly brought a lot on himself.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

First and foremost those running Barrow need to be honest and open on their ambitions for the club. Do they genuinely want to push on and try to get back into the Football League or do they want to settle for existing in mid-table National League, bringing on a few players (i.e. Williams, Bennett etc) and having the odd push for the play-offs. The latter may not excite many but at least it would be honest and set expectations. At the moment I'm not clear on where Barrow want to be. Have a feeling Casson is getting nervous at the prospect of funding a Football League team and wants to slow down.

That's true, but nobody is telling the truth..and nobody comes out of this well. There's a lot of wilder rumours flying around which have been started from within the club, be it Cox, Casson or some of the agents. This then gets peddled on here and the whole thing washes around endlessly like the tide of litter in Morecambe Bay.

Cox is gone- that's it. There's no point looking back in that respect. I thought he did a great job playing unattractive football. I'd certainly settle for that again.

I don't want Moore to get the job. Hearing him say he'd discussed playing style with Andrew Casson prior to Saturday post match ... even if we are going down the 'Head Coach' route he needs to be allowed to get on with it. Holty would be a massive gamble...I also don't think they'd pay the money he'd want. We want someone with experience who will be allowed to set the team up the way they want. There's a core of decent players there a then some need to be coached to improve or shipped out.

The assumption from within the football club that we can get recruitment right every year the Paul Ogden way is ludicrous. In Barrow's history, have we ever as successfully sold off a crop like last seasons? I rate Paul Ogden but he's not Midas. So far, Bauress looks lightweight and scared, Makoma is far too raw, Nieskens is a fabulous bloke but far from the finished article.

Off the park it all needs to settle down, less backstabbing and bizarre statements, less leaks from within the building and more concentrating on making the place somewhere we might actually have an enjoyable time at on a Saturday afternoon.

Lower mid table beckons on the evidence thus far

Exactly . Its a high stake Gamble. Its £1k on a 33/1 horse with 20 runners. Barrow were extremely lucky to have had 3 good players but they needed to be in a good side performing well each week to be recognised. The fact they played well in a competitive side boosted their value and gave Barrow a right to demand more for them.

He was the manager after all....
I thought we offered him a one year deal and he wanted a two year deal? Or do did someone make that up?

Agree Adam Virgo said the same about Williams etc.
Also about the rumours /disinformation being put on here from board members /people close to the club.
We now need clarification from whoever about moving forward, I personally fear for the future of the club because I have this vision of Paul Casson walking out stating fans/public not behind when at first it was the opposite .

Not sure how easy it would be for him to walk away (though remember what became of Colne Dynamoes and why) but it must be very dispiriting for the family to face constant negatives, some which may be deserved but many of which feed rumour as 'fact' when it is likely that people are doing their best within time and budget constraints.

The argument elsewhere for an experienced "football person" to be brought in to assist with the management may seem fair in some respects but does not guarantee a major change in critics' attitudes (refer to Carlisle United) and begs the question of which part of the company's budget should be raided to pay their salary, given that the owners have said this season's playing budget is greater than last's (perhaps in part a dividend from the sale of players?).

Really? In his statement only a couple of days ago he said:

"We have one goal this year and that is promotion."

Seems pretty clear to me.

I think he would be unwise to say he wants promotion if, in fact, he doesn't.
