I presume when everything is done and a couple of new crush barriers are put in place, our ground capacity will increase.Will we have to apply to the council for an increase ?

Is it up to 5500 again now but could it touch the magical 6000 capacity once these rusting eyesores are removed...iconic as they are? anyone got information out there from the club

Lots to take into consideration I think Nick, crush barriers are one but things like exits and how many can use them exits if an emergency situation arose is another. As with all H&S these days, it's complicated.

Yep,Your right,could even see the old towers from the south end of Walney.
Having said that,these new ones look the business height wise but, with them being narrow and grey its harder to see them from a distance.
They make the lights at craven park look like lamp posts.

Doesn't the one in the Asda corner have a mobile phone transmitter on it?

Wasn't that one the best of the 4 because the mobile phone company paid to have it refurbished?

If things have been done correctly,Barrow should be receiving a chunk of money annually from the phone company for the siting of the transmitter.

Isn't that a newish pylon, presumably installed in conjuction with the telecoms company, rather than the original 1960s structure being refurbished?

The structural state of the original pylons has been a cause of increasing concern for a number of years and I doubt that the mobile company would have wanted to place expensive equipment on top of something that was unsound and would need to be replaced sooner or later.

Not sure when this went up but it always looked a more robust version of the four towers.
