Driving past I still cannot decide if I really like the new "modern" ones. Think with our ground being small in size the old ones gave it more purpose,tho looking at them Saturday close up they looked ok. Time will tell,looling forward to seeing them on next week have to say.

I agree. The old ones made the ground look like league one. Maybe we just got used to it but they looked proper somehow. New ones actually taller and no doubt brightest..... still sorry to see the old ones go. Many fond memories of great games under them

Came past today and they were cutting the old ones up prior to taking it away. Looked in an awful state, amazed they have stayed up.

I appreciate the attachment for the old pylons and floodlights. But I don't care that they've gone, they were unsafe and potentially very dangerous, and dim as anything.
The new lights appear to be much, much brighter and that'll do nicely for me.

Did BAFC not offer the lights under the stand to local sports clubs over the summer? Wonder if there have been any expressions of interest?

Remember one game several years back, a cable hanging from the light on the bluebird corner started flashing and cracking with people stood nearby,think we went into a "code red"

Not many of the old GEC pylons remain now. I had nostalgic views on the old ones and was really pleased when Casson initially said he hoped to save them but appreciate they'd had their day and couldn't be refurbished. New ones won't stir up the emotions walking down Cemetry Hill. Yes they will be brighter, but still not 500lux as per league 2 requirements. don't know whether that was a planning issue or not but appeared as a late change to spec to 300lux. Still a lot better as we will see Tues night.

Think I read earlier the lights are 350 strength and that it is comparatively simple to make alterations to amend tonleague 2 standard in future.Believe council was only going to approve 250 but we persuaded them to agree 350.there had been no objections to the new floodlights from nearby residents but presumably we would need further permission to increase to league 2 standard.Never had explanation as to why not asked for at time.Maybe club can explain ?

If certain people actually took time to read this thread properly they would see a post from Spirit of 1990 on page 17 that explains about the lighting - and it's nothing to do with the council either.. Pedro - you should know better - you actually posted on the same page so can't help but have seen the post

In answer to above questions/queries.

The club applied for 500 Lux (which is what is needed for up to Championship level) but the funding group put a cap on 250 Lux which is the current ground level and what is needed for NL football. The club argued that we were aiming higher than that level of lighting and we managed to get it upped to 350 Lux.

The cabling and electrical works installed can take 550 Lux, the masts and arrays are capable of being upgraded in the future by simply adding additional fittings/bulbs etc.

As far as I know there were no complaints from local residents.
