17/18 VNL Tranmere 1 - 0 Barrow
Re: Tranmere match thread
Not at yesterday's game.
Intrigued by negativity towards Yussuf by some on here; he's been a handful whenever I have seen him and a Tranmere contact thought that - despite their mismatch of physiques - he was prepared to take on McNulty physically yesterday more than most other forwards have done.
Some match thread posters need to take a more balanced view (particularly those who weren't there!) - beat Boreham Wood and we are world-beaters; lose to Tranmere in added time and it's all Senna the Soothsayer...

Re: Tranmere match thread
Fans usually say we've been unlucky regarding results but Barrow really have up till now.
We've not been stuffed by anyone. The 3 games we've lost have all been by the odd goal and the games we've drawn we should probably have won bar the Dover game which was a good point.

Re: Tranmere match thread
Yesterday it showed that Yussuff and Harrison isn't working at all , Harrison isn't fit but he is a good footballer who needs game time and he did get a goal although it was deemed to be offside.
We have tried the pair of them and now feel it's the opportunity now to try Harrison and White who has scored more goals for us this season than the other 3 strikers added together.
Yussuf missed a good couple of sitters yesterday and also one last week and although strikers will miss more chances than score them ,his stats from soccer base would prove that out of White Harrison and Yussuff he has the least chance of being a success.
Apologies for being a statto but they certainly have their uses to back up what our eyes can see.

They have started 2 games together, we won one and lost one.Bluebarrowman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2017 10:32 am Yesterday it showed that Yussuff and Harrison isn't working at all.

Re: Tranmere match thread
They don't back up what my eyes saw when I watched the Fylde match. Yussef looked dangerous while White was non-existant. Yussef has pace while White has not. Yussef can hold the ball up while White cannot. I agree that White has a better scoring record currently. He also looks as though he is more dangerous from crosses than the other 2 and could be the one to use if we are controlling a match and getting in lots of crosses. However, as we don't have a fit winger worthy of the name at the moment not many crosses are likely to be coming over. I can't see that White would ever be better than Yussef and a fit Harrison particularly in away matches.Bluebarrowman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2017 10:32 am Yesterday it showed that Yussuff and Harrison isn't working at all , Harrison isn't fit but he is a good footballer who needs game time and he did get a goal although it was deemed to be offside.

Re: Tranmere match thread
The problem as I saw it yesterday was Adi Yussuf could never quite shake off the shackles of the canny Steve McNulty who played it tight and gave him no room. The coaching staff should of changed it round a bit and tried to stretch the Tranmere back four more in my opinion. Harry Panayiotou did just that when he came on, all be it against a tiring defence.
Yussuf has goals in him no doubt about it and Byron is just going to take time to get match fit.

Yeah do agree with you re the Fylde game ,White didn't play well and probably should have scored but after starting Harrison and Yussuff in the next two games without either scoring then my point isrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2017 10:46 amThey don't back up what my eyes saw when I watched the Fylde match. Why not give Harrison and White a couple of games to find the net.

Re: Tranmere match thread
All teams need to use more than 2 strikers so I'm sure all the possible combinations will be used sometimes and we'll find out which works best.Bluebarrowman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2017 11:35 amYeah do agree with you re the Fylde game ,White didn't play well and probably should have scored but after starting Harrison and Yussuff in the next two games without either scoring then my point isrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2017 10:46 am They don't back up what my eyes saw when I watched the Fylde match. Re: Tranmere match thread
Just watched the highlights- why was the Barrow goal disallowed? And why was Moussa trying to pass it back instead of just clearing it for their goal?
Re: Tranmere match thread
Just watched the highlites. If that goal was ruled out cos of a foul then that idiota in black is worth premiership matches.

Where are the highlights?

Re: Tranmere match thread
I've just watched the highlights the decision to rule out Harrison's goal was ridiculous! Absolutely nothing that should have stopped the goal standing. However, we missed 2 absolute sitters in the first half which would have finished the match.
