You are 6 months out.
Re: Barrow v GUISELEY March thread
i actually thought when we got the ball down we played some good football, just no cutting edge up top! White was aweful, 6 foot odd but jumps 5 foot 5
saw a few of the players pulling out of tackles, especially Jones, i dont mind watching average players that get stuck in but pulling out of challenges is kids stuff

Although we dominated in the main I thought Guiseley created as many clear cut chances as we did. A bit of naughtiness by Rooney on Gomis led to a blood bin and clean shirt for our player. Some very peculiar decisions by the officials on the night. The new lighting systems luminescence is pretty impressive.
In summary the Paul Cox homecoming turned out to be a damp squib.

Re: Barrow v GUISELEY March thread
Don't think we were awful last night. Like it or not, when the pitch is soaking and the rain is driving down, you can't play your natural game and it does tend to kill large parts of the game.
We continued with our attempts to play the ball out from the back through the full backs, and we did look to pass it around a bit and shift play quickly from side to side which I liked. It wasn't very coherent and players seemed to struggle knowing where each other would be, but i guess that's because we've never played that way before, along with the weather conditions. When the full backs did get forward, we looked lively and we cut through them at times to get to the byline, just lacking that bit of quality and/or luck in putting a good ball into the box or getting something on the end of it.
Not sure why Yusuff got taken off at half time unless he was injured, White offered next to nothing again. Harrison doesn't look fully fit or settled but he'll come good, we all know what he can do. Going from Yusuff and Harrison to White and Paniyatou is quite a step down tbh, so no suprises it ended 0-0 for me.
Couple of players i've been quite critical of recently, Asa Hall and Thierry Audel, but both actually had a decent game last night IMO. Nobody particularly played bad and I think the effort was there, just one of them nights really.
We need to get a permanent manager appointed ASAP so we can bring in players if we need or at least get the current ones on the same page of how we're going to play and what's expected of them.
On the plus side, the floodlights were decent, much brighter than the old ones!

A pretty fair summary. Not the doom and gloom some would like but plenty still to work on.Ste Story wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2017 9:50 am Don't think we were awful last night. Did notice after the game that Harrison actually limped from the dugout. Don't think he had a problem when he was subbed.

It isn't doom and gloom. We actually play some decent stuff on the deck, but the goals have dried up.

Re: Barrow v GUISELEY March thread
Harrison needs rest and confidence, cant be great coming back after so long and his mind will be half on his ankle.. would have taken Harrison off and played harry off Yusuf. I rate Gomes, his distribution of the ball is bloody good but need Harvey to do the dirty work perhaps and let gomes free? Young jack looks like a very promising player, rate him highly too.. all in all, crap weather played its part along with another poor ref!!
Could do with Bignot sticking around imo, if he is available and fancies it? he is obviously the tactics guy.. wouldn't say no to a moore and bignot partnership.
Deffo need stability and knowing who will be the BOSS asap..
Still think we have a really good bunch of lads who under the right manager can get us up the table but do need two or three extra experienced players, a decent forward and a couple of meat heads in midfield!
3 pts at the weekend will do us the world of good.
And yes, the lighting was far better but still sad to see the legend lights go...

Whether you believe Moore/Bignot might be worth a go, they arent the people to get us a top 6 finish and a better style of play so that rules them out.

Re: Barrow v GUISELEY March thread
Quite enjoyed the first half. We knocked the ball around well and found loads of space out wide. Couldn't find the killer pass or get a break. They tightened up second half and we're obviously happy with a draw. The keeper was taking an age over every goalkick. Still haven't got the midfielder to open up a team when they are content to sit back. White was quiet but got no service. He'd probably have had more luck first half unfortunately.
Probably not enough to score Moore the gig but we have improved our style.

Listened on the radio and they were very critical of Jones especially for pulling out of a couple of 60/40's. John Goodwin imo talks a lot of sense and he said: 'get the impression Jones doesn't want to be here tonite...even tough he's been one of our better performers this season'. Harsh but fair?
