Good well balanced view by the Blackpool exile.
We can all have our digs at times, me included. Mainly because looking in from the outside some of the decision making has looked baffling at times.
Even so I'd hope and trust everything that has happened of late within the club has plausible reasons.
But one thing for sure is without Paul Cassons financial commitment to the Barrow AFC cause we would surely be in a worse state than North Korea.

Not all millionaire club owners spend loads of money with Bristol City being an example where their fans want more spent. You are allowed an opinion but you and a former member of this forum must expect criticism in return for what quite frankly are vitriolic and stupid posts. In my opinion we are doing far better with Paul Casson than without him.
Agreed; progress is slow and a bit erratic, but its there for all to see and hardly worth throwing all the toys out of the pram about. The team has been a victim of its own success but PC is still backing Barrow as should everyone on here who still classes themselves as a 'supporter'.
Abso bl00dy lutely!! I can't get over this obsession to get rid of casson.
As far as I can see all he has been guilty of its getting carried away early doors.. but only the foolish would have believed what he actually promised was realistic.

The general feeling around this forum is that some POSTERS! (not fans) are trying to get him to walk or at least tarnish his name.

What a load of rubbish. Can people not engage and debate, and even (dare i say it) disagree with the clubs position on any given issue. Those who think that we should all just agree must live in a lovely rose tinted world.

It's BAFC, Specifically At Middlesbrough.

The only person tarnishing anyone is the man himself.

He made big, big promises when he took over and he's so fair failing to deliver.

A lot of style but no substance. No sustainability, and certainly no signs of forward movement off the pitch.

Yes engage in debate but also recognise what is downright insulting such as Pedro comparing Casson to Vaughan, surely everyone on this forum must recognise the offensiveness of this. As for a former member of this forum going on about the phone lines being down at Christmas as though all it took was a bit more money to clinch promotion. The absurdity of this especially in football is beyond parody, loads of teams have thrown money at similar situations and failed why would Barrow have succeeded. The other thing is for all we know Cox may have exceeded his budget and was still demanding more why should he have got it. I believe at times he had quite a lot of expensive players on the bench so why did he need any more.
If we move along steadily that would be fine and I think most fans would be happy with that.
Even rich or comparatively rich owners have to act sensibly.
If they don't you end up in the same scenario of the old joke. How do you get a small fortune. Have a big fortune then buy a football club.

I am sorry Mike i have to disagree. Pedro chats some utter rubbish, admittedly, but what he wrote was that Casson will end up leaving us in a similar position to what Vaughan did - believe it or not, before Casson took over this was a common worry and a majority view on this forum - i am sure that one of the forum anoraks can find the thread which is evidence of this.

Moreover, i don't disagree with Pedro's concern - and before people read this and sigh this view is rooted in the fact that the company which owns the club has made tremendous losses and, as of yet, nothing has been done to increase the viability and self sufficiency of the club. My gut feeling is that Casson is a brilliant business man who will not keep losing millions, that is not in his nature, so that leaves 2 options i). the club increases revenue streams, or ii). Casson pulls out. I think option one is highly unlikely and I would not blame Casson for taking second option because i do not think this town cares enough about its own football club, people would rather watch Utd etc. at the pub then support Barrow. For the avoidance of doubt, Casson isnt Vaughan, he isnt a crook and i believe he had the best intentions when he bought the club, but the town has not bought into the idea and the bandwagon has not gained any new passengers. My honest belief is that we will have an unhappy ending, we will end up in a similar position to 1999.

I agree that spending in January would not have guaranteed promotion, but not spending certainly guaranteed we would not get promoted. The frustration i feel is that this league is hard, and it seems to get harder every year. I dont think any amount of money can guarantee you a chance at promotion - there are too many big teams, but last year we had a sniff, we were in the play offs come January and for the first time we actually had a chance of FL, i just think we missed an opportunity. Now, i qualify this view by saying that i agree if Cox had spent his budget then that is that, i agree we should be frugal (for the reasons above). However, i am sure i read a comment maybe an official one, or maybe one from @spirit of 1990? stating that the January loans cost a hell of a lot - this suggests the budget wasnt all spent.

My final point, i am a bit tired of coming on this forum and seeing only 2 views ever being recognized, either your a Cassonite, or against the club. I am neither, i support Barrow, i support Paul Casson because his aims, and my hopes align. That doesnt mean i cant disagree or comment on the way the club is run or how decisions are made and when i do disagree i shouldn't be vilified and told i am not a 'true' supporter. Equally, i am grateful and always will be for Casson coming along and investing in the club, but i do miss something about the old days of Bayliss and Sheridan and the grit and passion a group of decent footballers with hearts like lions who punched well above their weight in 2008, 2009 and 2010 - i do miss that underdog status. The club has been stranded in no mans land for as long as ive followed Barrow with no plan and no direction for the future - Casson hasnt changed this but i cant blame him because there was no strategy in the first place. My frustration is borne out of love for this club.

Mike, this is a great debate and i enjoy reading all sides, above is mine. Just remember every inch of this great town was built by it sons and it is its sons who can build this football club up again.

+1

IMO discussion about Micky Moore and Casson and the shortcomings of the club has reached the point of exhaustion.

We've all used this great facility of the forum to air our views.
