Have you checked his managerial record. Yes he's had some disappointments but also some notable successes. Promotion, Trophy win and took Gateshead to the playoffs. So a winner as well.
The Poll: Version 2 vote for your choice of manager
Re: The Poll: Version 2 vote for your choice of manager
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

I'd rather have someone with recent success

Re: The Poll: Version 2 vote for your choice of manager
I think under different circumstances I would be inclined to dip into Conference North for Matt Jansen, Kevin Wilkin or Alun Armstrong but I don't think that would be a right call at all in the current circumstances, we need someone who is an experienced operator at this level and quickly organise the team, get them back to basics, motivate the players and get some points on the board.
Gary Mills seems to divide opinions, he had a good spell at Gateshead and nearly got them promoted and almost kept York up next season, I don't know how much of York being relegated was down to him or the farce surrounding Jackie McNamara but he struggled in Conference North this season and lost his job so that doesn't bode well. As a consequence, I don't think he would be a good choice as manager however when compared to Moore he looks like a much stronger candidate just by simply being an actual manager and having experience at this level.
I have absolutely no idea who I would bring in (I do have a soft spot for Paul [SwearFilter] as a bit of a cult hero from the 90s and early 00s but don't know whether he is a viable candidate).

Re: The Poll: Version 2 vote for your choice of manager
Think we need to appoint the Director of Football & team manager at the same time. It will be complicated but we need to get a "management team" in place quickly. Am I right in believing the Director of Football application deadline was Oct 14th? If so things should be starting to move (he says hopefully). Personally I would like to see John Sheridan involved in some way. Good idea to appoint some roofers at the same time.

Comparable stats of some canditates on our poll
If we are looking to have someone with better than Paul Cox , who btw should never left the club or been forced out, then we have three people who are experienced and have better stats than Cox who had a win ratio of 42.1 % from 280 games/ 118 wins
Mills 42.8% 949 games / 406 wins
Wesley 45.9% 893 games / 410 wins
Brabin 47.3 % 207 games / 98 wins
So as they say in financial investments past performance is not a guarantee of future results ,however it's not a bad indicator
Whoever we choose there will be objections from within our own support and fans of clubs who these guys have managed but any of the above at least have a track record.
Mills is my choice because he has done this before in getting a club to the football league and he likes to play attacking attractive football too if possible .
Big decision but it's not a time for a rookie IMO.

Paul Creary maybe the man, has got Raiders promoted and he's a roofer.

Are you talking about the new manager or the person who makes the decision.

Why do people want Sheridan?
What success has he had?

Quick browse on wikipedia tells you he's done alright over the years. A few play offs, won league 2, FL trophy, couple of relegation survival 'successes'. Add that to an impressive high level playing career, I'd take him.

Doubt it since Brabin is a coach at Port Vale...michaelstreet75 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2017 10:00 pm Brabin will keep us up and might bring mcnulty back with him!
Mills [SwearFilter] wept what has life come too.
Justin Edinburgh would be fantastic for us.
A ' big name ' with plenty of knowledge of football league and conference is really needed and a man who fans will think ' maybe this is the time ' like we did under Cox and get the beliefs back!
And just one last thing, somebody who isn't arsed about playing all this Tika takka fancy shit as it doesn't work down here and especially with this team. Get the ball up and become shithouses again.
