Hire of crane, scaffolding will eat into a chunk of cash before the roofers turn a bolt, I would have thought.

Thanks to both of them for getting this sorted and paid for quickly.
Also the Shot Blasting company by the sounds of it, Procedures should have been in place not to fill the gutted and downspouts with their waste, get them to pay for that part of the problem.

I was told how much was quoted originally just to make it safe! so perhaps that amount isn't overly expensive.

As Hadrian points out, cranes, cherry pickers, new sections of the actual roof, fixing or replacing some of the H bars that have twisted, delivery of material - add on labour and it soon tots up.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

As someone at the mercy of a similar issue at work, you'd be dead right cost wise. It' costs to make it safe before anyone gets up there and rightly so. As to the insurance, seems very unfair that one

I would have quite happily ambled up there and sorted it... shame on H&S for making things so difficult and expensive :-)

What price do you put on someone`s life or possible risk of serious injury?

This website is like some Enid Blyton Secret Seven on mushrooms thing sometimes.

Couldn't be bothered with hyphens or apostrophes.
