Beaten by a better side no doubt, but we did have some chances. When you get the top sides here and you can see the work that has to be done. Pace and width needed.

we definitely need 2 wingers to put crosses in, they were badly missed today. with a bit better finishing early on we could have won the game. never mind onwards and upwards :scarf:

Controlling midfielder still needed. Hall goes too deep onto the back 4 far too often. Very effective Macc side today.. no complaints. Onwards... Holty didn't look happy at the end marching off...

Thought our midfield just couldn't get going today, whereas the Macclesfield midfield were on top of their game especially Whitaker and Durrell who made Macc tick. Whitaker with his nouse and Durrell with his industry, all in all Macc deserved the three points. I just felt we were waiting for things to happen at times rather than making them happen. We are very much a work in progress and there will be highs and lows before we get some much needed consistency.

Elliot Newby would fit the pacy winger bill nicely. He has had very good reviews at Telford who rate him highly... Still only 21. Need someone to put the crosses in with Holt. White and Harrison in the squad.

Why don't you deal with your insecurities by trying to get a girlfriend, like normal people.

Beaten by the better team today plain & simple. We had a cracking first twenty minutes but once they weathered that they had it in the bag. They looked like they have enough to push all the other favourites this year.
Gomis was probably our best player today although Yussef did well early on, if a little greedy at times (think Byron would agree with that)

If Ady likes wingers like he said last night he'll need to address that problem sooner rather than later, hopefully Fitzpatrick might be able to help him out with that little problem in the coming weeks. Some of the passing left a bit to be desired as well.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

We needed to take our early chances today. We were beaten by the best side I have seen at Holker Street this season. I lot of work still to be done but IMO we will be OK.
Swapping Barrow AFC for UD Lanzarote for a while but will monitor in the sun with cheap beer.

If yusseff takes his chances different game, hall and clements struggled in midfield especially clements his work rate was non existent, both their goals were preventable the first a one two if hall tracks back with him he doesn't get it ( saying that everyone stood as well ).the second whilst he took it well he had all the time in the world to pick his spot!
To be fair we were missing both fullbacks and two centre half's and it showed.
We desperately need to get people in to get quality crosses in and also some combative midfielders

If you do get a girlfriend don't forget to fetch her along to the football.

Got to agree with those comments, Blue Nige. Yussuf rightly took the plaudits a fortnight ago but ridiculous that he was named MOTM today. He wasted two or three good openings in the first half and if just one of them had been taken it could have made for a different game. Clements is frustrating as there's a football brain in there for sure but his hunger seemed conspicuously lacking. That said, they were certainly the better team by a distance after they went ahead, bossing us in every department, especially midfield. They were a cohesive unit, very well drilled and disciplined, with every player knowing their job. It's hard to say this but we've got to aspire to be like Macclesfield.

Danny Whittaker, been quality at this level for years.

I was heartened by today - workrate and willingness to do something positive were there even if we still lack quality in certain areas.
