17/18 VNL - Eastleigh 0 - 2 Barrow

Couldn't fault any of them today, the thing that pleased me most was the intensity that we played with. We were on the front foot closing Eastleigh down all game and gave them no time on the ball at all. We kept it up for the full 90 minutes too with the subs being used well to replace those who were tiring.

We also created enough chances to have got at least another couple second half. As mentioned above, Bauress had his best game for us (or the best I've seen him have). Same goes for Hall, I'm of the opinion that he's been virtually anonymous for us all season but today he was excellent. Picked up all the loose balls and kept things ticking over in midfield.

The work rate coupled with the way we put ourselves on the front foot was excellent to see and a world apart from what we were seeing in the not too distant past.

Very commited performance ,nobody went missing and deserved win. Moore made 3 exeptional saves looking forward to seeing them again on highlights and players were prepared to defend, when needed,bravely.More of this and we will continue to climb away from bottom.
Mentioned before we needed to get crosses into box to our striker,well i thought Brad Bauress delivered some superb crosses today ,the lad is getting better all the time imo.
Point at Gateshead will do fine tuesday,we're overdue something there !

Eastleigh have always been spot on with us and we the same to them. Think both sets of supporters have a happy go lucky attitude most of the time

Eastleigh manager on BBC site questions the fans performances after his team were booed off after their home defeat to Barrow.

At times it seemed like a strange game, the Spitfires spluttering after all the engine checks had been confirmed. they played mostly from Stack their keeper and for the first 25mins dictated the play. Don't get me wrong, the Bluebirds put in a lot of effort especially when without the ball. Our defenders started shaky and Diagne was having a mare, as their No 11 was constantly doing him for pace. Even Dunne (who was given MoM) was struggling at the beginning. When on 32mins Yussuf smartly turned and his rebound shot ended with Harrison firing home. The first half was tame but the second half started very brightly, Constable headed against the bar and then Youssef picked up a poor clearance, rounded Stack their keeper and from a wide angle smashed the upright and it just didn't fall to Harrison. Baurese was causing the home team plenty of problems and whipped in several good crosses, of which one led to a succession of corners. from one the ball landed just outside the area and Dunne volleyed a sweet left foot strike into the top corner. There were plenty more chances for Barrow and Hall smashed a great header that had goal written all over it, Unfortunately Stack pushed it over. Following substitutions the home team gained some momentum and Moore made some brilliant saves. He was well backed up by some resolute defending especially from Dunne. Moussa generally looked lethargic. Both Hall and Gomis were dictating the middle, this followed a shaky first 25mins. the most pleasing thing was the massive effort put in by the players. it was a great team win and it was difficult to find a MoM. Holt looked absolute class when he came on and it was the first time I felt Baurese really looked the part, i think Grant would loved to have been on the end of his crosses. I hope we manage to take the momentum to Gateshaed on Tuesday.

Really? I'd love to know what makes you think that. Take away a good little back heel to get Bauress in behind and he did virtually nothing. Not a criticism of him as he wasn't on long enough and when he did come on it was all about seeing the game out.

Agreed, he wasn't on long enough to appraise but I believe he had six/seven touches and they were simple easy touches.
His close control and cleverness at shielding the ball bought him two fouls and he was trying to orchastrate others to pass/cross to Harrison and White.

Yes, he was trying to 'wind the clock down" Just wish White would of scored when he was played in.
Would love to see how Holt copes with a full ninety or even 45mins. (guess that won't happen yet)
