Dreadful performance and just a good job we were playing such a gash side as Nuneaton. Anyone half decent would have stuffed us today.

First half was awful, second was worse but we were gifted a goal and so into the hat we go on Monday.

Walters was industrious and quick first half but his final delivery was poor other than one cross for the "non-league Berbatov" who looked decidedly disinterested today and seemed almost embarrassed when he bagged the late winner. Makoma was like a lost sheep and I didn't notice Hall was playing until half an hour in. Dunne and to a lesser extent Diarra the pick of a poor side. White was something that rhymes with his surname*. Gomis and Yussuf livened it up a touch when they came on.

One to be forgotten but a good day out with the exiles all the same despite the Crown's best attempts to poison us with ghastly tasting (and smelling) ale pre match and London Midland (or whatever they have changed their name to) playing train hokey cokey on the way home at Rugby and Northampton.

It wasn't our strongest team and listening to Ady Pennock post match he seemed to imply that he was trying some players out so that he could make some decisions in January.

If it wasn't our strongest side then I guess we aren't overly bothered about a Trophy run. That would be a shame (IMO).

Time this 19th century rule was scrapped or at least brought up to date. Remember Capstick and Messenger missing out on our 1990 run to Wembley because they'd played in a preliminary round game nearly 9 months earlier.Personally I'd recommend that a player is eligible providing he was registered prior to the previous round. In Grants' case that would have ruled him out yesterday (still with Kings Lynn when the last qualifying round was played) but would be available from here on .Considering this often rules players out of European ties I'm surprised none of the hierarchy have never looked into it.

Just pleased we've got the win but the reports that the performance was dreadful is a concern. Just watched the highlights and what i notice is that we are not tight in on players at all and letting players take a lot of touches (1:14 and 3:20) without putting in a challenge. These aren't tricky wingers pushing it past our players. These are running through the middle of the park.

Beautifully edited highlights made that look a lot better than it was. Re the post match assessment - sorry mate but you've got Macoma all wrong. He undoubtedly has good skills no doubt learned at a decent academy. He also has a good first touch which leads you to expect something good to follow but this never does. Whilst I certainly wouldn't blame Macoma for the palpable lack of enthusiasm of the team on the day, he was given a pivotal role in the centre of midfield and his inability (and lack of physical strength) in that role was responsible for much of the wide open spaces afforded to Nuneaton. He also wandered out of position quite a bit making it difficult for he team to keep their shape. When Gomis came on late in the game the difference both in the stiffness of the defence and the quality of counter attacks was pretty stark.

Feel a bit sorry for Macoma who is obviously young and away from his home. He does need to bulk up a bit if hes going to thrive at this level but its difficult to see where his opportunities might come. May be better in an U-23 set-up than here.
