Wrexham v Barrow match thread

Best "away day" for many moons and in all respects both on and off the field. Both teams produced some good stuff in atrocious conditions and both were clearly intent on winning the game. The net result was first class, nail-biting entertainment and I was delighted to be there. The late equaliser made it feel like a win. What a shame that a small number of Wrecsam (they are Welsh you know!) people took it so personally. Barrow fully deserved their point. The Wrexham players seemed to fall over in the mud a lot more than ours did. Strange that such a proud old club should provide such poor quality studs for a good team that does not need to resort to histrionics in and around the penalty area.

Thanks to stewards and police for giving us a safe passage back to England.

I shouldn't have said that about folk not going away and I apologise unreservedly. There's a million reasons for not going and it's certainly none of my business to moan about choices.

We'd had a shedload of call offs and were up against it in terms of numbers all day, not least with teenagers bouncing about and shouting abuse as perfectly ordinary folk who weren't causing a bit of bother got back on the bus (which I might add was very well behaved,stopped for lunch in a village pub etc)

Exciting game- great bit of skill from Jones. I had a proper sulk on when flash score pinged through that it had finished 3-2 so it was a pleasant surprise when I tuned in on here later to see that we'd drawn.

The percentage of our home crowd who travel away probably stands up against most in the league. While the crowds are down at home the last couple of years it stands to reason so will the away following

You be surprized with the number of Barrovians who go away at new year, sometimes it comes down to staying in barrow going round town on new years eve bored out your skull but being able to follow the soccer the next day or going away to celebrate new year and missing next days match.

This result against a Wrexham team who had their game called off on Saturday therefore extra recovery time shows that the players have the fight in them.
The squad has a lot out with illness or coming back from illness and injury. It also puts the Solihull game into context as they won again so were not the push overs a lot of people including the press made them out to be.

Quite remarkable
The last 6 home games we have the worst form in the league. 4 points. 1 less than Torquay, who are bottom.
The last 6 away games we have the best form in the league. 13 points. 2 more than Macclesfield, who are top.

Ah! Frustrating for 2 of the Wrexham goals!

First goal Barthram is put on the post on leaves it as the corner is taken, would have been an easy block.

Second goal Dixon's positioning is way off at the free kick. Should be a yard to his right, have to trust the wall to block and if they can't it's a worldie free kick. Also pre-emptively takes a step to his left as it's struck, maybe because he's stood behind his wall and can't see.

All in all a great battling performance though. Loved Jones' goal!
