I always remember him playing against us for Morecambe when I was a kid, then he signed for us .
Just a player that always stuck in my mind.
Can't remember him being good or bad, just pretty average.

Always remember GT absolutely flaming one of the directors after that. We were about 3 months after Wembley! We were awful

"Gone to the wedding...we should have gone to the wedding!" being chanted although we did make it back to stagger/dance around the reception.

Histon was always a laugh, goodness knows why. The one we went in CN where they let us drink on the terrace...can feel my liver twitch at the memory. Saving a pen on the pitch at ha;f time, beer making me go blind, Pumpisford...

James Owen, likeable to the fans but was he any good?

James Owen will always be remembered in my mind as a sorry sight at Kenilworth Road when he was named as 12th man when we only had 12 players fit and available. Probably summed up his time with us to be fair. He always gave his all but like a lot of other midfielders we have had he couldn't pass water

When debating good or bad, there are names that are very obvious (eg Cowps good, very good) so I'll try to pick a slightly more obscure name . . . Neil Illman, who played around about 20 games for us in the mid to late 1990's. Good or bad? Interesting! In the remaining 19 or so games after his debut he fell into the "bad" category but the debut was worlds apart and one of the most remarkable baptisms I can remember from any Barrow player. He totally bossed the show and I was staggered at his performance, like that of a multi-million pounds player in a league way way below his merits. Yet, as stated, after that first match, he was ordinary, poor even. How is it possible to produce a contrast, a chasm, of such staggering proportions?

One of those players that was popular because he would run around and get stuck in. However people didn't seem to notice that he would give the ball straight back with an awful attempted pass.

There were some bad, because they simply were bad but the ones that [SwearFilter] supporters off most were players like Marc Goodfellow who had it in him to be a decent player but once in a contract simply didn’t perform.
Another couple who were obviously decent but for whatever reasons fell into the “couldn’t be arsed” category were Rowe & McConville.

For 3 or 4 seasons up till the summer of 1966 we had a young local lad playing regularly for us by the name of Keith Eddy. Hop in a Tardis and take a trip back to those times and find yourself on the Holker Street terraces where the Barrow supporters are clear in their verdict on this young local player . . . "he's bad, worse than bad" (to put it politely). I was only a young kid myself but can remember being a bit daunted to say the least by the boo-ing and hostility towards young Eddy.

However, to answer the question laid down in this thread the final analysis years later would definitely read "this was a good player, a very good player". Eddy went to Watford after leaving us in 1966 and eventually found himself in the top flight of English football where he captained Sheffield United for a few years. He ended his career playing for New York Cosmos. Some of his team-mates at the Cosmos had a lot of respect for Keith Eddy . . . team-mates such as Pele and Franz Beckenbauer. But then again who are they? Anybody ever heard of them? So the verdict from the Holker Street sages would read . . . BAD player. Ignore Pele and Beckenbauer, they know nothing, nothing at all.
