Bit harsh on Holt this, we can't pump balls into the corners and expect him to chase them down. Thought he's linked well with LJ the last few games when we've hit him to feet. Just needs that goal ....

Great result today, nervy finish, wish we could get that 2nd goal in games. Looking fwd to Wed with relish!!

To suggest play off chasing Bromley will rest players is odd. Yes they are 8 points outside the playoffs but they have 3 games in hand of the teams just above them.

Just my opinion & I could easily be wrong.

According to Radio Cumbria Dan Jones will be missing on Wednesday night away on England ‘C’ duty.
We could have done with him with Gomis being suspended.

Is this a joke. I said that on here when news first broke and got my ear chewed off by henneys knee and that adam johnson. Stupid decision to let him go to this were in a relegation fight not coasting in mid table with nothing to play for. Surely the eastleighs and gatesheads of the league have a few players they can send. Serious qestions need to be asked of pennock if we end up dropping points in the week. Lunacy to send one of your best players out to play a friendly at this vital stage of a season.

Awesome display today and the away support immense as always. Great to have Pennock come out and shake everyone's hand at the end and thank us all.

Second half we were about the best I have seen us this season. First half I just couldn't see us scoring but we still looked in control. Maidenhead hardly had a sniff even when we went down to 10 men. Referee was awful and no way did Gomis deserve to walk with especially the first yellow looking ridiculous. Not really a bad display among the team but Diarra and Cook bossed their forwards, Gomis battled well throughout and Kingsley James shone in the second period after being invisible in the first 45. Makoma put in a superb display as a makeshift right back and I would keep him there over Barthram but best of all was the front three. Walters, James and Waterston were truly exciting to watch with pace, guile and trickery. Maybe the final cutting edge was not quite there at times but they looked dangerous throughout. Hopefully they can keep White and Holt on the bench.

The Off the Tap pub in Maidenhead pre match was awesome making us feel very welcome and it was wonderful when the guys travelling down from Barrow joined the exiles in there as we took over half the pub.

Win on Wednesday and we will be safe. Huge 3 points today but now need to back it up at home.

See the negativity is already beginning to creep back into the thread ahead of Wednesday!

Spent 4 hours getting from snowy Suffolk to Maidenhead today and another 4 coming back tonight. Had a frown all the way there and a big smile all the way back.

Once again it's difficult to explain to those who haven't left HS this season how different the team can be when playing away. This was no smash and grab and we actually were far more dominant in the second half than the first - for a change. I'm not going to post on the Nathan Waterston thread but would only say that he had as good a game as you might have hoped for player moving up two divisions. And secondly those who were criticising Pennock/Casson or anybody else with responsibility at the club for thinking that Waterston and Walters could make a meaningful contribution might have been better reserving comments until after they've seen them play.

The two "W"s ran the Maidenhead fullbacks ragged in the second half and if...if... we'd had a bona fide striker up front we'd have won that far more easily. As it was take a bow Luke James...again. I just wish they'd play like this more often. Maidenhead were exactly as I thought they might be - a side who have just about secured their place for next year and even if they were capable of going the extra mile for a result found it difficult to raise themselves to do so. We were tenacious in the tackle, never let them dwell on the ball when they had it and broke repeatedly to the point whereby Maidenhead actually looked a little tentative for fear of losing possession.

Dont expect the same on Wednesday because the Monkey Hangers will have a totally different attitude even if as a side, they are no better the todays opposition. I think I'm right in noting that none of the bottom 10 lost today. That tells you a great deal about the consistency and quality in the top half of the table. Yes Hartlepool is a "six pointer" but todays result was a pretty big one. Take each game as it comes. Today we played with balls and if we continue like this we will pick up points no matter what happens on Wednesday. Having said all of that, I'll be hiding behind the sofa on Wednesday watching just like most of the ex-pats who turned up today.

By the way as one of many who received a Pennock handshake this afternoon, I can tell you that it was totally spontaneous and he actually waited for the BAFC supporters to file past the dressing room entrance before giving us his papal blessing. He seems to enjoy a win a much as the rest of us.

Didn't make the trip myself but I'm amazed about Makoma. Had a bit of a strange season but there's obviously a player in there somewhere. Let's hope he's found his calling.
