You can see why Dover are where they are, well organised at the back and quite physical, but they won't make the playoffs as they lack a bit of quality. Thought every one of the lads today stood up to the battle, everyone put a shift in and for a little more luck we could have pinched a win. Though Holt had one of his best games for us yet, was vocal and encouraging as well as making life hard for their defenders when we got the right service to him.
Makoma still work in progress, but again can't fault his efforts today. McDonald was my MOM by a good distance. If we can produce that level of effort until the end, we will be in with a shout of staying ahead of the pack behind us.
Intersting tactic of swapping warm up ends and the pre ko huddle

As mentied above, we warmed up at holker end , went out for player handshake thing toward HSE and defended at that end first half, accident or looking for a break?

Spoke to 2 of our young lads with southern accents in soccer bar car park about the warm up direction on their way to car after match. Arnold brought it up during the Hartlepool debrief in the week. Could not judge the wind for there second goal so the gaffer has decided we will always play towards the sea in first half. Logic being that wind blowing over from the sea will help us more in second half when needing to move the ball a long way up field quickly if defending a lead or in need of a goal. Load of cobblers if you ask me and i told them as much. Take some responsibility. Anyway regarding todays snooze fest what more can I say. Zzzzzz. 1 more point on the board and we would all take that at the beginning of the day. Fell asleep when i got in at 8.30 woke up half hour ago and thats me for the day now I think. Oh well at least i will be fresh for work on Monday.

Walters best player on the field today and he gets subbed...mystified on that. Holty should have gone off on the hour and bring in Jones

Walters going off wasn’t the problem as such, it was worth trying something different. No way should it have been Bauress coming on though, that was the issue

Couldn't fault the effort yesterday, we battled manfully against a big physical Dover side that were reminiscent of us fourteen months ago, no finesse but effective.
Would agree with HenneysKnee it was crying out for a change with twenty minutes to go if we were going to push on and win the game. It's goals that win games so the inclusion of Bauress was puzzling and never added any impetus going forward.
The big concern for me is just where the goals are going to come from, if Luke James doesn't score then who else does??

It would have been worth giving Waterson a run yesterday. Yes he's raw at this level but might just have given us a chance, and the lad will be anxious to show what he can do.
