Re: If We Go Down
Mr Casson was told how much it would cost and dismissed it , and that that he knew different !
I know a former member of this forum gets slagged off but we discussed all what's gone before and unfortunately it's turning out as we saw it believe me I'm not being smug just gutted our club has been sudjected to this total mismanagement!

Re: If We Go Down
Though I'm not giving up yet - if we win against Eastleigh I'm putting Woking as favourites to go down - I couldn't help but have a scan at the National League North table to see what might await next season should we end up relegated. One opinion could be that the size of some of clubs in there now including Chester makes it look a lot better league than the one that we left three years ago, but another eye would say it's a graveyard for poorly managed clubs that have dropped from the National League and beyond, and should we end up in it you could possibly put us in that category too.
Relegation would be a disaster and not something any of us would have contemplated this time last year. When we went down in 12/13 we had a number of seasons of battling against the drop so in the back of your mind there was always the thought of 'this could be the season.' At the end of the day we can wish for squads of yesteryear but we have what we have, there's nothing we can do but get behind them in the hope the above is just negative thinking.

Re: If We Go Down
Hard to believe that it's not that long ago that we took six points off Lincoln City.....To the present and they are in the football league and doing well and currently winning at Wembley in the EFL cup, while we are scratching around in the bowels of the National League struggling to maintain our NL status.
How times change.
How times change.
Re: If We Go Down
I can’t believe Paul hasn’t acted or come out with a statement..the Paul Casson that first came here would not just sit there and do nothing for 5 months while the Barrow public did not see a single home win. I think something is definitely wrong unless his hands are tied by contracts and finances...where’s his leadership when we need it most...it’s not like him to stear the ship towards the iceberg.....I have a picture of him stood in furness abbey with a centenary shirt on..what’s changed as the whole atmosphere around the club is stale.

Steer the ship towards an iceberg? It will certainly need a titanic effort to survive. A few of the passengers are already heading for the lifeboats even though the captain has not ordered abandon ship.mrsenario wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:39 pm I can’t believe Paul hasn’t acted or come out with a statement..the Paul Casson that first came here would not just sit there and do nothing for 5 months while the Barrow public did not see a single home win. Reading mrsenario's post sums everything up for me. So, it begs the question-,if we go down to the conference north, and I think we will, is 'this' same old scene of seemingly no leadership and deafening silence going to play out again ?.mrsenario wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:39 pm I can’t believe Paul hasn’t acted or come out with a statement..the Paul Casson that first came here would not just sit there and do nothing for 5 months while the Barrow public did not see a single home win. I have a strong feeling that we have now embarked on a journey to where we were once heading before Paul bought the club.
As the darkness draws nearer I realise that there is very little sympathy for our plight out there. What I mean is, in an earlier post, someone mentioned that not to long ago we were busy beating Lincoln City away and at home with the play offs in our sights. To me, it sort of cemented our Independence and ambition to reach the football league and it gave us something to be proud of in south Cumbria. Now-that destination with darkness is beckoning as we begin our journey into the abyss to meet our old foes at borough park and giant axe, and we will all be asked over the airwaves to come together as one for the sake of football in Cumbria when Carlisle want to make the playoffs or are battling to avoid the drop.
At the moment, its so painful to see the club coming to the end of what has proved to be a false dawn. I have always loved the club and all its patchworked glory , and I guess I always will. I for one will never walk away-come what may.

Re: If We Go Down
There is no plan, at least not one that has been shared with fans. There are initiatives, some very laudable initiatives, involving the community side, ticketing, recognition of the future fanbase etc, but where is the plan for long term sustainability of the football club and how we will get there? I have a yellow piece of paper summarising the vision shared by Paul Casson during takeover. It included development of a business plan within two years of takeover. This would be the framework to sustainability. There was a suggestion that there would one day be a share scheme for fans to buy back into the club. He was the owner, but it was still going to be the fans club. Words to that effect.mrsenario wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:39 pm I can’t believe Paul hasn’t acted or come out with a statement..the Paul Casson that first came here would not just sit there and do nothing for 5 months while the Barrow public did not see a single home win. Instead, the club at this level is still entirely reliant on the money being put into it by the owner. Coupled with all this is a return to negativity amongst large numbers of fans that has been placed into the mindset through uncertainty as to where this is all heading. It all makes for the current climate. Until there is some tangible plan that includes the route to sustainability then Barrow AFC will continue to operate in this way. Addressing these concerns as a football club and a fanbase is crucial to the future of this football club. Although I dread relegation, it is secondary to my wider concerns.

The first was Sean Reilly the Physio (well liked and loyal) followed by others - too numerous to mention.
The writing's being on the wall for some time - unfortunately WE - the Fans, were/are kept in the dark.

We've hit the [SwearFilter] iceberg because some [SwearFilter] wasn't looking ahead properly. And the hardest-working, 3rd class passengers will be the ones who mostly suffer, as always.
Soon, I fear, someone will declare that now "it's a mathematical certainty.'
"Walter, I'm sure there's a reason you brought your dirty undies..."
