Chester
Chester finished yesterdays game with Maidstone with six Academy players on the field. The caretaker manager said they matched Maidstone for much of the game and only silly mistakes through inexperience cost them the game. Hope we get something at Bromley to take the pressure off because I can see a tense 90 minutes on Saturday if a result is required. These young lads will be out to win a Conf North contract for next season and will have nothing to lose.We should be in their faces from the start to stop them building any momentum.

Matching a team seams good - but Maidstone had 10 men for over half the game

Re: Chester
Which Academy? Is it their own or from league clubs? If so, if we can't beat a team with 6 players from the academy of a very poor non-league team then we don't deserve to stay up! Maidstone are a very poor team and the fact they won 3-1 at Chester shows just how poor are Chester. I've been pessimistic about our chances this season from the time I saw little effort to keep Danny Livesey or replace the players who were signed by league clubs but I'm very confident that we will beat Chester. I'm certainly more confident that we will beat Chester than I would be that Woking will beat Dover.

Re: Chester
you can only play 5 loan players in a squad - so that should mean it's from their own academyrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 10:35 am Which Academy? Is it their own or from league clubs? Have to remain confident that we will be too strong for Chester and we will get the points. Let’s get the job done.

Re: Chester
Kept an eye on Chester yesterday. Mustn't forget that before yesterdays game Maidstone themselves would've been in the final day shoot out so they certainly would not have faced the game with massive confidence. Chester put Maidstone under a lot of pressure after the sending off but by then were 2 down.
When you put 6 academy players in your team it will certainly break things up a bit which in our case next week might be good. You dont want Chester to try and park the bus. It will make them hungrier and I'm sure they will pose problems but as Maidstone demonstrated and as was the case a bit in the Guiseley v Daggers game, when you introduce a significant group of new players for one or two games, whatever benefits you get up front will be more than offset by weaknesses to be exploited at the back.
If they play 6 academy players next week we really will have no excuses.

Poor Sunderland relegated Robbo, are you making the long journey to Holker St?

Yeah, all the National League games kick off at 12.30 on the last day. Last year they were all early evening games. Depends on what BT Sport want.

Yeah I'm making the journey, the early kick off could put a spanner in the works for me a bit but I'll still do my best to get there.

Re: Chester
I did that last season for the Dover game travelling from the North East, only realised a couple of days beforehand, left home at 7am or something daft like that just to make sure.Robbo_SAFC wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 4:05 pmPoor indeed, shocking effort by all concerned!Graphixman wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 3:10 pm Poor Sunderland relegated Robbo, are you making the long journey to Holker St?![]()

Re: Chester
I've said on here many times that our final league game could be the pivotal game of our season and thus - barring a surprising win at Bromley - it will be.
Everything should be done to ensure there's a positive vibe all around Holker Street next Saturday.
Our crowd will be the 12th man!
On paper this game looks a home banker.
Unfortunately, our home form and our team's reluctance to rise to the occasion on Holker Street's turf negates any feelings of confidence.
It's going to be tense. It's going to be tough. It's going to be traumatic...
But I believe we'll WIN!

Re: Chester
I think we will get at least a point at Bromley.
Away form very good.
If we don’t then it’s a dogfight on the last game which will test our squad and management.
I am sure ady and the lads have enough in the tank to do it.

A draw tonight makes no difference to Saturday does it?
