Holt/Makoma

Post by SKIPPER » Sun Jul 15, 2018 2:35 pm

Isn't it time someone put to bed the ongoing saga of this pair Thought we'd had enough of this cloak and dagger over time with the likes of Nicholas,Sheridan and Simpson.I am beginning to wonder whether Holt ever had any sort of contract and that is why he feels no compunction to return to the fold.Still feel that Radio Cumbria (not you Adam-the Carlisle mob) should push for an answer. They have spent a couple of years blowing smoke up his @rse hoping to lure him back to Carlisle, now thats gone out of the window they are pretending he doesn't exist. As for Makoma the Stevenage link appears to be Trumpesque fake news. There is no mention on their official site and he didn't feature in their friendly yesterday. The thread on their fans forum appears simply to be a link to this forums mention. Not bothered if either of them go (though to be honest I expected far more from Holt) but surely the fans have a right to know .

Makoma was out of contract and, we offered him a new one. He obviously hasn't taken us up on our offer.
Cant see why you refer to that as a saga.

Holt, probably a few things going on that neither side want to mention in my opinion.

We've got money for Makoma, happy days. Obviously Stevenage see something, I don't but I'm not a football coach, good luck to the lad.

No doubt Holty would understandably want the full terms of his contract paid up. No doubt negotiations are taking place.

I hope the wrestling traning and festival visits while on gardening leave bring him much joy, more than he brought us on or off the park this time. Hey ho.

Getting £25k for Makoma is one of the best things Barrow have done recently

Makoma has the potential to be worth much, much more than £25k in the near future.

Thought the lad did fairly decently when played at fullback in our weeks of need.
Yes he got away with a bit at times mainly through naivity but also showed he had an eye for a pass and was pretty proficient in that department.
If we got a bit of money for a player that had no intention on returning then it's clearly good business.
It sadly hasn't worked out this time around regarding Grant Holt although I like many others hoped it would. I think he still thought he could do a job on the pitch here but has clearly got to an age where his head tells him one thing and his body tells him the truth!! Most over 35's can associate with that and quite a few younger.
The only disappointment for me was that he looked very unfit when he arrived, so he clearly wasn't taking it 100% seriously anymore week in week out, although his performance against Tranmere at home raised the briefest of hope that he was.
He has a young family and bills to pay, like many others. So I don't blame him for getting out of it what he can.
If he happened to do well here and someone came calling we would of wanted our wedge.

Holt, probably a few things going on that neither side want to mention in my opinion.
Maybe my choice of words wasnt quite PC but the lads' whereabouts/future has been mentioned on here several times without anyone coming up with a concrete answer. As for the 'move' I would re-iterate that there is no mention on the official site of Stevenage or ourselves and he didn't feature in their PSF against Portsmouth yesterday unless he is still referred to as Trialist.

i think he's still referred to as trialist... someone posted the pic of him with blonde in his hair from his time here on their forum and someone else noted that yes he was there at the game just minus the blonde....

I thought Makoma was a good player and he had potential. It’s a shame to see him go, but it’s understandable and we’re at least getting a decent fee. Good luck to him. He definitely has gone as a mate of mine who supports Stevenage confirmed he was there on trial and should be joining. As for Holt, surely he’s on the way out. Nice guy but not good enough on the pitch anymore.

Definitely Makoma, but when did Stevenage start building Submarines!

Look at who we have in the positions he played, and couldn't see him getting a game here this year anyways

Not good enough off the pitch either. Just shouts and bawls at players - hardly gives them confidence!
