Just play him , no good sat on the bench , bossed the U21 game last Monday and plenty of others I’ve watched locally .Doesn't shirk a challenge or go hiding on the pitch ,don’t think the step up will be a problem .Trust him and play him.

I just hope that it’s a signing based on readiness for this league and not just to please and pretend our performance centre works.
You started your post so well and then poured cold water on it with a ridiculous statement which is an insult to all concerned with the Performance Centre!
It's not an insult, it's an opinion.

For what it is worth, I support what the performance centre does in essence, however for it to be successful then the players that are given an opportunity in the first team must be at the required standard and I hope that this lad is. In the past, players have come in from the centre and been left on the bench, just to please the centre and locals.

It’s all hope above expectation. I’ve said many times before hope is not a strategy. I approve of the system hugely; I suppose the manager is the best judge of whether the player is capable or not.
Good luck to Sloan if he’s given his chance.

Let's just give the lad a chance, eh?

I for one am really pleased about this news. It's had a huge reaction on social media which tells the whole story.

Football team starts up U21 side who perform well? Young player shines and earns a contract with the first team squad thus justifying the entire concept and investment involved in squad development?

Fake good news. Gotta be. And an affront to any troll relishing in their current comfort zone that in the post Casson era we are steadily heading for the abyss. Must be an act of desperation or possibly a club conspiracy. Ah yes that must be it.

Well done Christian. Welcome to the mosh pit of venom that occasionally characterises the forum. As you are probably still young and impressionable, probably better that you dont read this stuff. Really hope it works out.

Back in the Cox era we would have gone out and brought in a loanee for a month, so fair Play to Evatt for having the confidence to bring a lad in. There are 2 or 3 in the 21s who given a chance wouldnt let the side down if they had chance to get some experience at this level.
Unless we can get to a position of safety later in the year going to be tough to throw them on if we have to.

Wouldn’t like to have seen the stick previous managers would have got for signing a local kid in midfield when we are crying out for experienced signings in defence

So you don’t think we need some experienced defenders?

We do!! And you are still a numpty. It’s not where you are going it’s where you are at! (If you know who said that i’ll Retract the numpty) We need defenders yes. We have just promoted a graduate from our development centre. Concentrate on the positives unless you are one of those people who cannot.

Great news, nice to see a talented player be rewarded for some strong U21 performances. Wonder if, with our current situation, IE might be looking at Fitch and Allington, the latter having made a first team appearance a few years ago, from the U21s to provide some defensive cover? Both strong and talented players, granted would be tough to throw them in, but could give us some extra options with IE I’m guessing unsure on a budget to strengthen.

Well done everyone involved in bringing some positive news in the current uncertain times.
