Three tradesmen? Well that misunderstanding should please the other two!barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 1:39 pm We are passing on a donation from a gent on this thread and matching it from the Trust. As usual, Ian hasn't asked for a lot, but we are getting a lot. Leave Ian talk about that though. I will say though, half an hour of three tradesmen looking at the area and we have a plan to sort out a load of issues.
Firstly we’ve got to thank Lancaster Branch for a really generous donation and the Trust for matching it, without both of them we wouldn’t be doing too much of anything this weekend. Thanks also to Boyliegladbach for the help he’s given us.
We’ll be down the ground this Sunday from 9:00am if anyone would like to give us a hand it’d be greatly appreciated.
We have a couple of jobs that we need to crack on with straight away but we could do with a couple of volunteers to help paint some interior walls, a nice easy and warm job but if we end up doing it it’ll mean the other “money earning” jobs for the club will be held up.
The plan is to upgrade certain areas that will hopefully entice more people to use the club both pre-match and corporate. A bit too much to go into right now but we’ll report back on Sunday with how we got on.
Any help anyone can give us on Sunday really will make a difference.
One more thank you, The Bob In Cafe have said they’ll supply bacon sandwiches, soup etc and I think Ryan will be doing the the brew runs. Great effort and all these things organised by everyone in less than a week.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Another £200 donated today, one off a forum poster and one off London Zigger.
Thank you it really is appreciated.
Also a couple more volunteers for Sunday, once again really good news.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
We have had a very generous offer from the NSC to fund a project so in the coming weeks we will talk to the chairman fans trust on what potentially this project should be... historically this is something what has worked very well with the GMV and NSC so it’s important to prioritise...if anyone has ideas what that might be feel free to post

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
For me there's a few cheap and easy little jobs to get done before the club has a claim against them, firstly on way to cross bar a lot of loose or damaged flags need replacing as seen folk almost tripping over, again it's cheaper than some jobs worth putting in a claim, and surely the money needs to go to improving the match day experience for everyone

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Yes mate other job that would be good is to get the 2 toilets working at the back off the Ray Wilkie stand so you do not have to go all the way to the crossbar end 2 use the toilets

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
That was an absolutely fantastic turn out today, I counted pushing 30 people at various points during the morning. Too many to name individually but lots of jobs were either started, finished or planned for next week.
Some simple but important improvements to the Legends room.
Top foyer is well on the way with first coats of paint.
Fred Else room cleaned from top to bottom as was the Legends room.
New can/bottle/pie bar is well under way and starting to look the part.
Some new glass top tables have been put in the X Bar to replace them little old wooden ones.
Jamie turned up to transport some materials from B&Q....which was an adventure that I’m not too keen on repeating!
Many thanks to the Bob In Cafe for supplying breakfast buns and the club for the teas/coffees.
Paul Hornby & his family came down to meet everyone and has asked me to pass on his gratitude & thanks to all who turned up. I think he was quite surprised at the turnout.
Some people will be popping down during the week and we’ll have another visit next Sunday morning for anyone who feels they can give a few hours of their time.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
As you say Ian a good turn out and nice to see new people joining the gang. Everyone buckling down and getting on with it. The banter was good as per.
Graham Chapman turning up to paint carrying his portable nebulisor thing was a sight to behold and was quite humbling that he would do that. I think the inventive people we have could attach some wheel type trolley thing so he doesn't have to carry it. The lady with Jonty ( didn't find out if it was his wife/partner or someone he had sweet talked into coming along) marched in with a mountain of cleaning products in a bucket ready for action.
When we first arrived it was depressing both weatherwise and to actually inspect inside and outside the ground and see what a mammoth task we have on our hands. As worse as I have ever seen the place.
We are going to need expertise for some of the work and donations please however small to try and bring it up to some sort of decent standard.
After our efforts this morning I felt a little better that we have made a start and there are willing hands out there.
Just a note Ian. It is Remembrance Sunday next week so I will be at the Cenotaph. Is there any chance of a Saturday?

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Yep, great turnout.
Agree with Elaine, it was depressing when we got there. No up keep at all either inside the club or out.
If just 10% of what PC invested in the club went on the ground and infrastructure then we would have a tidy stadium
3 hrs later we had 2 corporate rooms looking great again with new lights, pictures and a full clean from top 2 bottom.
The bar looked great with new furniture and a full clean
Thanks to everyone for their help and hope they continue to come down to help.
Anyone who can help financially that would be great too, it will help pay for paint/lighting/wood etc.

Great work people, well done. Just a thought, is it worth approaching furness college as I know they have used apprentice brickies etc for other organisations, material cost only I think.
I have a contact in there i can approach if it's something that hasn't been examined before?

Obviously huge credit to everyone doing great work there but I’ve just seen this photo on the clubs social media; incredible that, superb from GrahamHolkerbird wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 4:41 pm Graham Chapman turning up to paint carrying his portable nebulisor thing was a sight to behold and was quite humbling that he would do that

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
We’ve had the college involved a couple of years back mate. This is all very early (not much more than one week!) & all the jobs we did today were to try and get extra money into the club - which hopefully will happen.Big E wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 6:02 pm Great work people, well done. We need to finish off what we started today before the next home game. If things then carry on then we might contact the college again.
If anyone wants to see what we’ve done today youvan PM me your e-Mail address and I’ll send them to you.
