Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
Obviously wasn't at the game so can't comment, I know the budget has been cut but I'm guessing it's still more than the club generates
Hope the manager can pull it around the football has been better but in the games I've seen we just seem to [SwearFilter] around too much and don't seem to have a plan b..

Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
Eastleigh beat us at a canter today. We were a bit better in the second half but that is not saying much. Seems the word has gone around that we like to play out from the back and whilst I have enjoyed this feel the other teams are wise to us. They press us high knowing if we have to resort to a long ball there are not many times we will win it in the air. Likewise at the back any crosses, corners or free kicks are a constant source of goals for other teams as we do not have the height to win most headers. The second goal today being a case in point. Eastleigh had two or three men under the ball and merely waited for it to come down before nodding it in, all this happened at a level sixes inches above the height our defenders are capable of reaching.

Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
A team made up of players not wanted by similar size clubs, a load of loan players and a rookie manager, think we are still doing better than expected, honestly expected us to be cut a drift, let's be honest clubs our size cannot prosper on gate money, so need big outside investment, which we haven't got, based on this we are still punching above our weight currently, however pretty much resigned to relegation now weve been found out and will probably find our natural level around mid table in conference north for the foreseeable future,

Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
I honestly couldn't have picked anyone who deserved it, so it might as well have gone to the new lad. I find it hard to see any bright spots outside of Hindle, Kay and Taylor (possibly Granite too). Early season optimism looks to have been misplaced as every team who comes here now doesn't have to get into second gear to sort us out.boyliegladbach wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 6:11 pm Time to question the manager and his tactics in my opinion. Is Blyth fit or not ? Id have thrown him on second half to at least give the opposition defence something to think about

I like evatt, nice bloke- but doesn't not seem to understand non league well. I'm very concerned about the fact we have quiet a large squad when all fit - but lack quality throughout.
We ain't going anywhere playing pretty football trying to walk it into the net.
Fingers crossed we can pick up some points over the next few games as it looks a tough ask over xmas.
We never have harmony on an off the pitch at the same time lol - now the shambles off the pitch seems to be going away - on the pitch is now the problem. But I guess that's football.
Paul Cox can [SwearFilter] off.

I think you, me and the other 1102 (minus the 48 Eastleigh fans) thought that as well. The only one who didn't was that big mug stood beside the dug-out.

Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
I wouldn't blame the manager too much. He's been given no money and has only been able to recruit inferior players who nobody else would want at this level. The latest signing is a good example. A player who once played at a very good level but has already been signed by 2 clubs at a lower level this season - Nuneaton Borough and Halesowen Town - and, as far as I can see, never made an appearance for either!Thenotorious wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 5:47 pm Say what u want about cox but his side's showed grit and weren't bullied. Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
Cox's agency advocating Cox's football - there's a surprise.
Today was woeful, and although MOM announcement was ridiculous, any one of the 14 would have been a terrible shout.
Dixon reminding everyone why we thought he was shit first time around - at fault for at least one goal, and got lucky from his mistakes a couple of times.
Wanted to like Wilson but he's not impressed, and Granite was poor today. All midfielders were dreadful today, except possibly Kay, who at least looked like he was trying.
Why is Sousa still here? Struggles with every element of wing play. Turner may as well have had an extra week off, and Smith did nowt bar a couple of offsides to remind us he was on the pitch.
Of all the games this season, that one seemed like the least amount of effort was put into it. We do need changes, but it also feels like all the changes have unsettled this team. Hard to tell what can be done to get their rhythm back.

Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
Exactly this, with the type of signings we are making, we must have the lowest budget in the leaguerussell_anderson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 6:38 pmI wouldn't blame the manager too much. Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
When I first saw the team I thought 3 at the back but no Jones as a holding midfielder this was an insult to any of the other midfielders, I can't see the point of a holding midfielder anyway when you are at home especially when most teams in this league usually play with a lone striker.
The first goal what were granite and Wilson doing ? And Dixon caught in no man's land pathetic the second was just as bad long hopeful ball played to the back post the guy (unchallenged headed it back for a simple tap in !, the third another cross and the guy just headed it in with Wilson and granite stood marking think air!
It's a long time since I've seen such poor defending. The back four don't work as a unit people rave about granite but him and Wilson together are clueless.
I feel so sorry for young Smith having to feed off scraps to his credit the lad keeps going it must be soul destroying we need to get him some support since we lost Holden our attacking looks disjointed him Burgess Smith and hindle were a joy to watch.
At the moment all Evatt is doing is shuffling the pack we need a minimum of a strong cenre half probably 2 but we can't go on like this!

Surely they just picked him as MOM so they could have their photo with him? Someone did similar with Holt last season after a similar woeful performance

He's not been given no money that's nonsense I bet our budget is comparable with many others in this league.. The budget won't be covered by income that's why the club needs investors.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 6:38 pmI wouldn't blame the manager too much. I'm glad he wasn't given a bigger budget because if he had we would be facing more than a relegation battle

Re: BARROW V Eastleigh
So we have tried a long ball physical approach which ultimately wasn’t too successful or popular; now we have a playing out from the back tika taka approach which isn’t too successful and certainly not popular. The club is at a crossroads on and off the field and from what I hear the new consortium will be a fairly local affair. Maybe we should now prioritise locally- based professionals and get a good core of them in the side at whatever level we end up at; at least we will have a side that look like they give a shit.
Generally speaking we have had about 18 months now of cast-off journeymen players going through the motions and wondering how and when their agent can get them out of Barrow. The lack of spirit and channelled aggression at todays game v Eastleigh was nothing short of scandalous and I for one won’t be able to take too much more of Evatt’s powder-puff approach.

We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...
