Fair enough, not a lot we can do if he fancies a crack at league football

Re: Dan Jones
That’s not unexpected. A shame we couldn’t keep him but I’m sure the manager will come up with a decent replacement.

Re: Dan Jones
If this turns out to be the case I’ll be very disappointed, but things like this will inevitably happen as long as the club exists.
If we do well, it means we’ve got some good players, and they’ll be scouted and made lucrative offers to move. Can’t blame anyone for moving on, earning more and playing at a higher level. Most recently Williams, Bennett and Anderton.
I think most of us are optimistic about next season; if we do well, it will be inevitable that sides will come in for our better performers. It will just happen, and we have to accept it. It might happen with our manager too.
My view is if a player moves on, as long as he’s given everything possible for Barrow in his time at the club, then he can only go with our best wishes. The caveat to that is a sideways move, and/or out and out greed.
I am strongly of the view that Dan Jones tried his heart out for Barrow, so good luck and success wherever he goes into The Football League.

Re: Dan Jones
Dan Jones played exceptionally well for us under Ian Evatt. Given that him and Barthrams contracts were the legacy of the Casson/Cox time its hardly surprising they are moving on. Jones was placed on the transfer list at the end of 2017/18 season and nobody was interested and i dare say nobody would have been to bothered had he indeed moved on when on the transfer list. Credit has to go to Evatt for helping to improve his performances this season and no doubt raising his profile to the extent league clubs are sniffing round. He was prone to the odd lapse in concentration but he has a wand of a left foot and those long diagonal passes served us well this season. Good luck to him wherever he ends up and I'm sure he will do well.

Re: Dan Jones
Yes agree, Evatt brought his game on and playing him at Centre Back, hmmm, still not sure about that, but he is a good player and gets his head down and gets on with it.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 2:54 pm Dan Jones played exceptionally well for us under Ian Evatt. Re: Dan Jones
Another player I always liked, unsure of him at CB but he fit in well when IE put him there. IE was speaking to us at the last directors Q&A and he said Jones was, in his eyes, only a CB.
If your league move comes off, well done Dan & all the best for the future.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Dan Jones
Best wishes to Dan. Shame we couldn't keep him but I think he was always going to play at a higher level. He also has that long throw that is really beneficial in the right team.
