Re: Dan Jones
Evatt clearly likes his centre backs to hold the ball and look up as Hird did a lot in the Hartlepool game. Taylor playing deep means it is not as risky as it might be and unless your defenders are truly old school opens up the passing game we have all enjoyed. You may have misunderstood me, I'd rather keep him but trust the manager to have another player performing just as well, especially if we get a fee for him?
Re: Dan Jones
He’s out of contract now so no fee. Steven Casson to blame as we could have benefitted but at that stage any investment other than a new boiler was not happening. Interesting how quickly they came in and left but the club moved onwards.
My view is that dan jones was always going to go as the contract that g.. cox gave him and his agent was too high to renew. Good player yes but we e had better centre backs who defended better....before anyone starts recall livesey mcnulty Bolland etc. Mcnulty I would have back as a better player and csptain

Re: Dan Jones
McNulty was very good. (Paul) Jones better.

Re: Dan Jones
Jones has it to prove in the league yet. He may do so however I don’t believe he is not replaceable. Ian Evatt will recruit a proper centre back. Jones was weak in the air

Re: Dan Jones
No matter how poor an appointment Steven Casson was I'd find it hard to blame him - Jones came after he'd left. In any case his role would'nt have given him any say in players contracts.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Dan Jones
Steven Casson was here for a short time during our first season back in the National League so 2 seasons before Dan Jones came to the club.

Re: Dan Jones
Are you confusing Steven Casson with Andrew Casson?

Yeah.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Dan Jones
He was great for us, especially the second season. Typical comments here - a good player for us is due to leave for better things so he's no longer a good player and has numerous flaws.
