We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Fine example of a builder's bum at the, er, bottom of the picture.
It all comes 'round again.

Coming on great but......No moisture barrier or rebar/steel mesh?spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 10:01 am Concrete going onto the old west terrace area this morning.
Not going to be load bearing so no structure going up?
Re: Photos of ground developments
I’m no expert, but from some web research, if a slab is poured onto a correctly prepared, stable sub base, then there is no need for rebar. As with regards to building on it, if we ever do extend the stand, then no issues, foundations would be prepared, not built on top of a slab. Incidentally there is no no slab under the existing main stand, just loose sub base.

True to some degree but there are limits as with everything else. Size of slab can or should be no larger than I think 10m2 or something before requiring joints, this. To build on would depend on the depth of slab/raft and weight of structure to be built.Jonty wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2019 12:23 am I’m no expert, but from some web research, if a slab is poured onto a correctly prepared, stable sub base, then there is no need for rebar. A structure like the stand would more than likely still need piling as the stress points of the load are different to let's say a wall.
It's a bit of a minefield tbh jonty but at least it looks tidy for now.

Re: Photos of ground developments
Unless I've read wrong.. the proposed building is where the groundsmen and porta cabins are/were.
I thought they were going on where the terrace was demolished?
Shame they can't stretch to a small canopy/roof behind goal at crossbar end. More cover from the elements the more attractive it is for the floaters as well as the die hards, keeps the noise within the ground too..aka atmosphere

Re: Photos of ground developments
That looks brilliant those plans
The newly cleared area is to be a family area/ new disabled area isn't it?
Great to see some investment in the ground and on things that will generate income and hopefully increase the attendance

Re: Photos of ground developments
A few from earlier.
The first is obviously the toilets but if you go back a few posts, look at the difference within a few days. Unfortunately we can’t claim credit for that as Kris Wilkes’s lads been doing all the hard work in there.
The second is the new galley where the corporate food will be dished up, it’ll be fully kitted out with base units and work surfaces along with a large dishwasher. That area has reached that stage in just over a week. We put the stud wall in, the electrics, and moved lights with a plasterer brought in by the club who skimmed the wall. The flooring is the same as all of the other rooms up there.
The third is a corporate room virtually completed, slate bars in position, TVs back up, skirting boards fitted....just a bit of painting and pictures to hang and they’re finished.
