I’d known Gary for nearly thirty years through the Bay Horse, pool and football and even when getting shouted at/a bollocking for some obscure reason you still couldn’t help but smile. A lovely lad.

The terraces will definitely be missing a character.

RIP Gary.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

What a great bloke.
A minutes silence - should be a minutes shouting

We used to have loads of conversations about Barrow at work and he always saw the bright side whatever predicament the club were in !
Puts everything into perspective so sad !

Gary wouldn't want silence it should be applause.

Hi all.

Just to clarify the plans for Gary, we'll be having a minute's applause in the 58th minute of the game. Silence wouldn't have seemed right to commemorate a man of such... volume. I discussed this with his wife Sharon who gave it her full support and was touched that the fans had thought of it. As was I, because it wasn't my idea.

It seems worth including the funeral arrangements here for those who may not know them:

The service will be 1pm on Friday 23rd August at St Mary's in Dalton. This was by Gary's request so that "the lads could all get out of work and have a proper drink". Following the service, the Cross Bar is booked from 2pm and I'm sure Sharon would be pleased to see as many of us there as were able to come. With somebody like Gary, the tone should be very much around celebration of life and I for one intend to have a good go at Simon's Carling supplies.

Perhaps an idea to brief the commentators on BT Sport so they can explain it.

Hi Levi, do you know if it's family flowers or donations to a charity please

Sad news indeed,
A lovely generous man who will be missed by everyone,
On a service stop to an away game he forbade Margaret Cooksey and myself from queueing up, found us a table and brought us a cup of tea and, as an extra, a nice cake. Then told us anytime we wanted a Sunday roast he would pay for us one at the Bay Horse.
I am sure he has left many a similar story behind.
One of a kind was Gary but aren't we all thankful that he was with us be it just for too short a time. R.I.P.

Thanks for the clarification
