Another thank you, this time to a Mr Houghton for setting up a standing order to go into the maintenance pot. As always, without these sort of donations we simply couldn’t take on anywhere near the amount of maintenance work that we do at present.

Still looking for a bit of help on Sunday if you can spare a few hours.
Just drop one of us a pm, e-mail or a reply on here so we can organise a few bites to eat.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Ian,

Just a thought here, have you thought about setting a target amount to achieve per month through standing orders and donations? ie what are your average costs over a month. let us know and we can try achieve that.

No worries if that's too hard to predict

Bit of a hard one that Neil. Since 2012 we’ve solely survived on donations and it has worked well that way...very very well really, and it never ceases to amaze all the volunteers and the club of the generosity of supporters who donate money and/or tools and materials.
Personally I can’t see how setting targets would work though, it’s great having money come in on a monthly basis but I’d say 95% of cash given is through one-off gestures. The 1901 club has worked well as a couple of winners have donated some of their winnings to us, others give us £5 £10 £20.....to all sorts of figures on match days, others simply make a one-off donation using the account number above.
TBH, it works fine like this as to some a monthly donation works for them, to others a cash sum handed over is their way of helping. We’ve also been very lucky that some people can donate various items and materials which obviously saves us dipping into funds.

I think a more pressing issue we have at the moment is volunteer numbers which have stagnated lately - which leaves more work for the regulars, or we simply cannot do as much as we would like to.

So leading on from both of the above, anyone who feels able to help either with time, money or materials, now would be a good time to start. Please remember, most of the jobs we do are to improve the ground for all of us, the ones you won’t see are the ones we do behind the scenes for the club directly which then saves them money which can be used in other areas.

Give it a go, you might like it 😁

Its 7 years ago today when the first thread went out on this topic, from donators money and tools, paint and screws, all helpers in joinery, litter picking cleaning. painting, fabrication, building , grass cutting, you all know who you are. Its been a fabulous journey. Long may it continue

Give a child meccano or Lego and just watch their imaginations grow with them. ;)
Well done all those that have funded, gifted and put those tireless hours in over the years. :scarf: :scarf:

What a mess we were in off the park at that point. It's made a big difference, well done to all.

Barrow abc recently gave us 50 flagstones to sell that he had removed from a landscaping job he was on. I put them on the BAE intranet service and managed to get £50 for them - which Tommy has very generously donated to the GMA kitty.

A very nice gesture as he could’ve easily sold them himself, the money will now be well spent on the ground at some point in the future.

I was wondering, are there any plans to paint the new wall?

Also as I have a lot on and can't give time or skills to club next best thing is putting funds into the kitty

Agree - unnecessary painting will just add to the amount of future maintenance.
